I had an idea today while patrolling for a small feature that perhaps could be added to the Quick Note button, in the area where you can click to automatically insert templates for “Basic Thanks” and “Coach for Bad”. I think it would be helpful to have an “NFD Message” button that would insert, for example, {{nfd|not|Article Title}} instead of typing that out. That way it could be quickly formatted into a talk page message just like that, and you could add any additional notes if necessary. Is this something that could possibly be implemented? Or does anyone have other thoughts about it? Obviously this doesn’t have to be high priority, but hopefully still worth considering.

This does seem like a good idea.

That would be nice! Good idea.

That sounds like it would be very helpful. It does get slightly annoying from time to time having to write it out.

  1. The NFD templates I see/use the most are not, dup, adv, and the not/adv combo.
  2. Even a hot key combination (or other) which would paste the article name into the Quick Note template at the cursor position would save time and reduce errors.
  3. Capability to preview Quick Notes would jump Quick Note quality and speed patrolling.
Please forgive me for extending the Quick Note conversation beyond the original post, @Jordan . *edit* unordered list to ordered - It might be easier to respond.

This could be a helpful feature for other users, but not so much for me as I’d prefer to personalize my message:slight_smile:

With options to fill in the type of nfd more easily. Then I would leave messages to the ones who it would make a difference

Having said that, most of THOSE people will never see it, and not care, but there might be a few. We won’t know if we don’t try, I guess.

Those are great suggestions, too. Of course a personalized message can always follow the template, but this is overall to make it easier and quicker to insert than what you have to do now manually.
