Hi All,
As a regular contributor here at wikihow, I like to try and completee tasks that have a larger quantity to do to balance out the worklad. For example, I have been focusing on the cleaning up articles as it is classified as “raining.” Anyway I was wondering what your opinion is on my own personaly experiment.
Lately I have been trying to contact the Author of articles that need to be cleaned up and discuss with them what they could do to improve their article rather then change it to my way. I generally talk about the structure, adding images, how to fix an introduction ect. Anyway so on my first prson I tried this on, I found it was successful. The user took my feeback and advice so that he/she could fix up the intro. Rather then me doing it for them, I gave tips and ideas so that they could learn and be able to teach future wikihowians.
Is this appropriate?
Do you think this is a good idea?
p.s. I still edit the articles but i am kind of doing a mix of both depending on the article and the issues regarding it.
You have come to a good way of dealing with this situation, @Zacharuah05
. I believe that you will find a wide variety of responses to your coaching, but as long as you are flexible and good-spirited, you should learn a lot about individuals and about collaboration. You will, hopefully, develop ways of dealing with the various personalities and will make some wikiHow friends in the process.
(In the future, you might post such topics in the Collaboration Corner by selecting that category from the drop-down menu in the first post of the thread. This will save an admin from moving the thread.)
@Alabaster
Thank you for that and I have taken all of your information/opinion onboard
That’s a lovely idea! I think it’s really cool that you’re helping people out.
My only concern would be that some users won’t respond, especially if they have been inactive for a while, or if they’re a troll coaching might not have effect. I would keep those in mind, but otherwise I think that could work great!

I have since modified my experiment slightly by editing the article by myself properly if they dont answer after 3 days
