So a lot of spambots have entered wikihow, bumping ancient topics with AI content.

I think maybe we could (I am not saying that we should) put an AI or spam detector like Akismet, which can hold the post for review and the mods can check it. If we can we must put it on the main site as well, not just here in the forums.

Just my idea:slight_smile:Although I could be wrong.

(I think you can also automate the process but sometimes actual human-made posts could possibly be flagged and removed. By that I mean it could essentially interfere with the site’s operation and chaos might emerge IF you make it AUTOMATIC)

I just went ahead and made one update in the Forum settings to check new users automatically, but I’m not sure if it’s going to help.

We are looking at different ways to handle AI-generated posts and content at the moment, so it’s definitely on our radar! Thanks!

… In the interim, please continue to flag posts you think require an admin review!

To Jayne: Great then! That will be good.

To Eric: Thanks. Until that this will help.

Well I’m not sure if the spam thingie is working, but I have gone ahead and closed a lot of old topics, so hopefully that will cut down on some of the random bumping that’s been happening!

Please let me know if you come across a topic that shouldn’t be closed but is! (and/or moderators can open any that may have been unintentional thank you!)

Holly cow, 1,647 unread topics! That’s a lot of closed posts.

In case anybody is wondering. For scale, that is bigger that 1,646! AMAZING!
