As you might’ve noticed, some PFPs aren’t showing up in the forums. For example, mine isn’t, Aasim’s isn’t, and Helpie’s isn’t. 

Here’s a very  likely reason:

If you visit Special:ProxyConnect on wikiHow, your avatar will no longer show up in forums. Here’s some evidence:

  1. I asked Helpie to visit the page so I can get the link to her avatar. After that, it no longer worked.
  2. I ran a test using WikiaWangTest. It no longer worked afterward.

I don’t think it’s that big of a problem, but maybe if the engineers aren’t busy and it’s easy to fix, can this problem be solved?

Yep - I had a suspicion, and thanks to a test run by @WikiaWang , my theory was proven to likely be correct. My profile picture was showing up on the forums until after I viewed the Special:ProxyConnect page, which I found quite odd. I figured maybe viewing the page was the cause of the broken image somehow. Maybe the engineers could look into this when they have some time?

Clearing cache doesn’t work to resolve the problem…

@Feliciano-Vargas You’re lucky you’ve got an alt account to test this on, I only have a main one LOL

Genuine question, and I suppose this is more aimed at staff, but would anyone end up on this page for reasons other than deliberately trying to access it? Frequently-accessed pages causing this bug would be more of a problem, but it seems like everyone that’s encountered this issue has been manually going to ProxyConnect rather than winding up there by mistake.

I don’t think there would be a reason that anyone ends up on this page by doing general wikiHow work :) 

This is probably a glitch with the current integration, but now that we will be leaving Vanilla in the not-too-distant future, I don’t think there’s reason to put engineering time into a fix.

@JayneG Okay! I believe our avatars will be back to normal after we move to Discourse?

I guess.  I have reported that problem before.  Anyway, like Jayne said, this is probably not going to be an issue anyway.  There is nothing wrong with having no profile image either.

Oh, and Discourse sounds too similar to “Discord” xD
