I was just talking to @AllysonE (who works on marketing at the wikiHaus) about how she and @Gavinn are working on some updated image compilations/banners to represent wikiHow on social media, maybe on the About Page, and in similar places out and about on the web. Essentially, an update to this:

There isn’t in itself anything wrong with the old versions of this banner, but we have had lots of great new visuals made since it was put together, so it could be cool to see a fresh mix out there… with that goal in mind, we’re in brainstorming/collecting mode!

I know lots of you guys spend tons of time checking out articles as you browse and edit, so I figured I’d ask: do you have any great ideas for images they can consider including?  If anyone has a favorite wikiHow image (or many!), please share here! Maybe it’s eye-catching, well made, beautiful, technical, precise, comforting, fun, authoritative, etc… anything that’ll represent what we’re about in an appealing way:slight_smile:

We’d love lots of ideas so they can combine a full range of images that pop!

This is the image for me ^=^

The best!

hmmm…

This image is particularly a little cringy, but then it is five years old.

Hah, I love these! Such a nice mix. Keep 'em coming if you find more over the next few days/weeks - Allyson and Gavin will appreciate the ideas.

@Galactic-Radiance Do you remember if there any good food ones or slime ones and/or good/sensitive/inclusive disability-focused ones from the days when you and Q were working more on baking and BVI topics and similar areas? I know some weren’t good and we redid - let’s not feature the bad, hah. But I forget if any really stood out as neat after revisions/feedback (esp photos, since it’s harder to find great shots of great food)?

@Vishshua You made me think of this one, too, which I always liked:

Cheers to wiki Lurve <3

Awww @Anna Cheers big time to this wonderful wikiLurve:heart::slight_smile::D. This picture is lovely!

These are giving me the feels! I love ALL of these illustrations. Any favorite photos come to mind?

Do you have any of your favourites?

Do they all have to be Wikivisual images? Because I know of a bunch of @MissLunaRose ’s images that would be great for a banner like this:stuck_out_tongue:

I do have a good selection though, I believe… I actually keep a Google Doc of images from my favorite artists who are generally fairly inclusive, so I’ll dig some up!

@Galactic-Radiance - not necessarily only wV! I think it’ll depend on both licensing and how we end up using the banner in other places. If you have favs of hers, do you want to email me them and I can check on the licenses, find out more about likely use of this banner, and then talk with Luna about any implications? I don’t want to make assumptions about how we can use her work (even if it’s licensed right - don’t want to take any liberties), but it’s def not out of the question. I love her stuff too:slight_smile:

@Galactic-Radiance Om nom nom I knew you’d have good food stuff <3

Here’s my favorite:

@Artemi7 Wow, that’s an old school one! How nice… Makes me feel cozy (being inside… warm… and not out there)

These are really fun to see!

Okay, no… this isn’t really one of my favs, but I just had to represent the money-nerd folk.

@Anna

Ooh, I have lots. I love all MissLunaRose’s images. Besides them my other favourites are:

These are awesome (even @Eric ’s banker nerdiness :P). A couple of people have asked me about how to embed images in the forums - there’s an icon for it in the toolbar here on desktop mode (looks like a little picture). It’ll pop up with a place to enter the direct image URL. You just have to click all the way through the wikiHow image, and use that direct image link, instead of the Image page link (eg https://www.wikihow.com/images/3/31/Create-a-Halloween-Centerpiece-from-Peppers-Step-1.jpg , rather than the “Image:” link) If you just want to paste links here instead of embedding visible pics, that totally works too, though:slight_smile:
