It’s an American term. I’m in the U.S.A. High school is basically the last school before students graduate and head out of the district school system and on to college or whatever other mission is waiting for them. No idea what terms they have coined for schools in Germany but it sounds like you’d be in the middle-class school (“middle school” over here), whatever it is.
