Hello Friends,

I started using the RC Patrol. I skip the edits that show, ‘(One intermediate revision by one other user not shown)This edit is a rollback. See what was undone.’ I was wondering, or rather request to allow a preview of these edits too.

Another worry was about talk page messages in RC Patrol. Whats the best thing to do when on a talk page message, you see a few regular messages and one offensive or abusive message? Theres no option for selecting messages and patrolling them individually?

About the Edit Article option, I had a question as to why we dont see the Guided Editing option without having to go to ‘Edit’ first?

I am having some problems with the My links page. How do we create a link to the heading My Links when it shows to the right of the account?

I would be grateful if the wonderful community guides me through these queries.Thank you.

I have not patrolled for a long time and things may have changed, but the way I used to handle these situations is as follows:

  • When I see a rollback, I click Advanced and open the article history in a separate tab. I then tick radio buttons to select the appropriate revisions and open a new diff which shows the rollback. From there, I examine that diff to determine if the rollback in question was appropriate or if it should be undone (or rolled back).
  • For one inappropriate message in a string, I hit “Mark as Patrolled,” and back-arrow to the diff I just marked as patrolled. I use quickedit to remove the offensive/inappropriate message and leave an informative edit summary before saving the quickedit. I then use quicknote to message the editor or do so directly.
  • Quickedit is it’s own animal and has limited functionality in exchange for increased speed and staying within RCP (Recent Changes Patrol).
  • Look at other user’s Mylinks by navigating to their user page and clicking edit (to reveal the code). Try @Isoehythmic , @Anna , @Tiagorith , or mine for some ideas about what can be included in Mylinks. I particularly like the persistent footer concept, though it is a bit tricky to get fine-tuned to your liking.
There as many ways to patrol as there are patrollers, so I am highly interested in seeing the articulations of venerable patrollers. ___________________________ These are all good questions and valid concerns. Thank you for being so contentious, @Vishwavijay …and welcome to the world of patrolling! (Maybe it is time for @Krystle to initiate a Google Hangout for patrollers.)

@Alabaster Thanks so much. I was not aware of the trick to edit that one abusive message while using RCP. Your method is actually something that a smart mind derives on its own while exploring various possibilities.
Thanks so much for the welcome message. I look up to you and to your guidance:slight_smile:

About the edits that do not have a preview, if I am not wrong, there is a one click link also provided while patrolling. Yet, if we didnt have to click on another link to see what was rolled back would be helpful. That the difference be shown like other differences shown in RCP.

I checked Isorhythmic, Anna, Tiagoroth, Krystle and your userpage codes. The links on the userpage  are mainly of articles, quick links and some other important links. I will have to try out various codes to see which one works or may be wait till I help.

Google hangout for patrolling will definitely make a great difference. Being in a group will help in alerting and in better sharing of what happened and in which area of wikiHow.

To link to a section heading on a mainspace page, I think you used to use something like: articleURL#sectionheading, but I may be misremembering. Also, this may have changed or might not work on the Mylinks page.

@Alabaster Thanks. I am finding this code new - articleURL#sectionheading.

I too have found the difficulty
