This is a problem that I keep messing up with. I don’t understand how I know if I’m bumping a thread. I was accused of bumping a thread in my last discussion, Why Are Forum Threads Closed. I felt terrible because I was clearly doing some thing wrong. How do I know if I’m bumping a thread?!:frowning:

That was me who did it, not you

Generally, if there has not been a comment for three weeks, a new comment is considered to be bumping. Exceptions might exist for forums games. ( @Confusionist would be the one to ask about those.)

Peridot, Usually it’s considered bumping if it’s an old thread (maybe like 1 week and older or so), but mainly if it’s an old thread and what you have to say isn’t super crucial, and the thread’s died out (like, no one really cares to keep it alive). Does that make sense? I’m not sure there are any hard rules about what is and isn’t bumping; mainly it’s a common sense thing.

@IsabelleZita I have a few doubts about forums. Reply whenever you are free. Does the deletion of the comments in my notifications (of forums) delete my comment in a thread? and Is it common to get 10-15 notifications about one single comment I make?

^ No, deleting a notification doesn’t delete your post in a thread. You can edit your posts in a thread, but only admins can delete users’ comments. I’m not really sure how many notifs a comment will usually get, but that sounds reasonable? I don’t really use my notification page that much.
