Hi! I was wondering . . . well, the title speaks for itself. I know it has to be nominated, and then people vote on whether it should be Featured or not, but how does an article get nominated? Thanks!

Well, as far as I know, only wikiHow’s intern (which right now is Dleon) can actually feature an article, but anyone can nominate one for featuring. To do that, just put {{fac}} on the article’s discussion page. FYI, the ‘fac’ stands for featured article candidate.

Usually the NABer that boosts the article puts that tag on. P.S. You have a better chance of getting a FA if it’s first a RS, although there definetley are excpetions:slight_smile:

Thanks for the information!

how do you vote on it?

As far as I know, Flickety, Krystle, and Dleon currently oversee the selection and adding of titles to the featured article feed. Anyone can add {{fac}} (tag for “featured article candidate”) to a noteworthy article’s discussion page, or ask one of them if they think the said article would make a worthwhile FA.

Just comment on the discussion page, as far as I know.

Anyone can nominate an article for featuring, even your own. Felicity does a lot of work finding potential featured articles, including reviewing the nominated articles, but also checking out Rising Stars and searching for good articles that might be very relevant (for example, articles about saving energy around Earth Day). I schedule the articles for featuring, and Danel (Dleon) applies the templates that gives the article FA status.

@Krystle once I ran into an article that was an FA (it said so on the discussion page), but it was missing the little star on the article page… I was going to tell you, but I forgot the name of the article, and can’t remember it for the life of me…:frowning:

The Twitter and Facebook icons on the right hand side hides the FA stars on the article pages, but the {{fa}} is still there when you click on the Edit tab.

Mwahaha, I’ve gotten a FAC.:slight_smile:It’s on Moluccan and Umbrella Cockatoos; http://www.wikihow.com/Care-for-a-Moluccan-or-Umbrella-Cockatoo
