When I put http://www.wikihow.com/User:Crashboombang ! into my browser bar, it goes to your user page. Is there a link that you click on somewhere on wikiHow that cuts off the exclamation point? If so, where is that link?

Yep, this is unavoidable. ! isn’t allowed in usernames on Vanilla.
