We just made a large change to our web servers that should make wikiHow load faster for logged in users! Yeah. The downside is that we may have some odd bugs that creep into the system. If you see anything unusual can you report it here, tech feedback or tell Krystle. Most notably please let us know if you see : 502 Bad Gateway I’m hoping for a bug-free, but faster wiki!

Noticed a bug today while trying to access the mobile version of the site, or the full version for that matter, on my phone and an iPod touch…I get the following: Error: Page could not be loaded. This page contains too many server redirects.Hopefully it can get fixed:confused:

Thanks for reporting this problem. The issue is fixed now.

I’m having problems when I try to log in on Safari. As soon as I log in, this happens: http://www.wikihow.com/Image:Screen_shot_2011-03-18_at_2.21.39_PM_421.png and then as soon as I go back, I’m logged in… Also, I don’t know if this is because of the change, but on quite a few users (like http://www.wikihow.com/User:StarlightTears ) it says 4 articles were started, but only 3 show… NEW: This is also happening on Google Chrome

Yikes that is a nasty bug. I’ve passed this on to Reuben and Travis so they can try to fix it. Thanks for reporting it.

Good catch here too! I filed a bug report for this.

Is this still an issue? Seems to be working now, and the source of that error message has been eliminated.

On my userpage, I have two different (at least) places where my number of articles is displayed. For the last few days, they have differed by one. They are both showing the most recent article, but one of the counts is wrong. 693 vs 692. http://www.wikihow.com/User:Ttrimm I use FF and Windows 7

I keep experiencing a recurring error where I’ll open the forums and it says I’m logged out, but when I try to sign in, I get: Error: You cannot log in to the forums because you do not have a valid e-mail address specified in your Preferences. And if I sign in again from the main site, I get the white “502 Bad Gateway” page. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t. I cleared the cache/refreshed too, but that doesn’t seem to help. (Running Windows 7, Chrome latest version.)

On the home page, I’m seeing nothing in the RC scroll and when I try to press “expand” on the homepage it just takes me to the top of the page.

Yeah, both are still an issue. Also; this morning I was having problems; when I went to an article or the wH forums, it would half-way log me out until I went back-- but it’s not doing that anymore…

Firstly, I may be having PC problems, and have switched between three different machines which may be contributing to what appear to be unsual events. When patrolling edits, the same edit comes up two, or even three or four times. If I mark it patrolled, the next edit comes up, but later the earlier one reappears. If I revert an edit, the next time it comes up, if I try to revert it again, it says the page has already been edited (by me). Since this seems curious, I have looked at a number of pages I did quickedits on, and even though the quickedit generated the acknowlegement that the edit was saved, it isn’t, and there is nothing in the page history showing it was done, meaning some edits I marked patrolled after quickediting to correct them were uncorrected. One other thing, there are either a lot of edits being backlogged or the timestamp on the edits is wrong, because after refreshing or opening a new special patrol page, many of the edits that come up are 9 or 10 hours old… usually refreshing the page posts edits from a minute or so old to a few minutes at most. This may seem trivial but added to the difficulty I have reading the edits/pages/changes with my vision, it is becoming more and more difficult to patrol edits effectively,. It also seems worrisome the count is adding up as it is, but that can always be a matter of the more productive patrollers being busy elsewhere,

I used to have this problem, but before I could report anything about it (i.e. a day later) it sorted itself out. But yeah, this was on Chrome and Win7 that I saw it.

@Rangers31 Can you try clearing cache + cookies, then force refreshing? If it persists, what browser & OS are you using? @BR I’ve noticed some weird repetitiveness in RC patrol also…I’ll keep a closer eye and see if I can document this so we can get it fixed.

I’ve gotten the 502 bad gateway when I attempt to log in. I’ll close the window, and when I open FF again, I’m logged in. VERY weird.

See my comments in Bug Reports…

Sometimes I’ll log in and my user page will be empty, and I cH only see two or three talk page messages, like everything is cut off. It usually comes back, but it’s reoccuring. Sometimes I can’t access my talk page for days. Just mine, everyone else’s seems to be fine…

i have written an article and i am 100% sure that i published it, but where it shows the articles you have written but a day later it disappeared! And whenever i try to do the image picker app it won’t work!.. someone help me!

I have the same problems as Cece123, only expanded to include other’s talk pages (although it seems to be weirdly specific to just a few), and to include edit or article pages, or even the homepage, as previously screeenshotted. Screenshat?

ok, also, the backslash here, http://www.wikihow.com/Image:Zippy\_594.JPG , after “Location”, in the word “Zippy’s”, (Zippy/'s), will not go away, no matter what I do?
