Fun fact: Peacocks are native to nice forest areas in exotic countries, and for some reason, they are everywhere in this park near me. They live alongside a colony of housecats that apparently got loose and started a family in an urban area.
They are very beautiful! I love theh shimmery blue-green.

Yeah, no kidding! They just…live next to each other…near the largest river here and a lake. Makes no sense of how either animal got there.
I wonder why they are called peacocks/peafowl. Where did the pea come from?
poucock, from Middle English po “peacock” + coc (see cock (n.)). Po is from Old English pawa " peafowl" (cock or hen), from Latin pavo (genitive pavonis), which, with Greek taos said to be ultimately from Tamil tokei (but perhaps is imitative; Latin represented the peacock’s sound as paupulo).
