Hi everyone - it’s been a while since I’ve been on wikiHow, and I’ve missed you guys a lot:slight_smile:I just logged on to be faced with a huge pile of talk page messages from people who think they’ve been welcomed by me - I’m assuming there’s a new(ish) auto-welcome feature of some sort?:smiley:Apologies for me not being in-the-know about wikiHow any more! Anyway, I’m just worried that, because I don’t log on very often at all these days, that all of these people’s questions will go unanswered. Why am I on the list of people who send out these auto-welcomes and how do I get removed? Thanks everyone x

Hi Martyn. Yes, we have an automatic welcoming bot now. It leaves new users a short welcoming message and signs it in the name of the Admin or Booster last active on the site. http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/2460/introducing-the-new-welcoming-tool/p1 You can turn it off so that it will not use your name to sign things anymore in your preferences. Under Miscellaneous, I believe. EDIT: Yes, Preferences --> Misc --> Second from the bottom.

Thanks for the quick reply! I’ll have a glance over my preferences… I’m pretty sure I didn’t make any edits on the days I got all of those messages though, so that’s weird?

@Busbyhead I noticed that actually. The welcoming tool had a little hiccup where it signed off as someone who hasn’t been active lately. We think we pinned down the issue so it shouldn’t happen again though:slight_smile:

In my opinion, it seems like the correct thing to do would be to log in and help out more often, I for one, miss you being around to help tame things down and put level headed, quality work on the boards, but only if you are able.

Ah do you know what BR, I miss being around here more often too! But at the moment I’m in the middle of my studies, coming up to exams, and I think I have enough distractions at the moment… life seems to get in the way so much these days:frowning:I do like to pop in very occasionally and do a few recent changes, but it seems that every time I check in, so much has changed… I used to know my way around wikiHow so well, know the way it worked inside out and all the people. I hope some day I’ll have the time to invest into getting properly back up to speed again:slight_smile:
