Hello, I recently realised that there are a ton of questions to answer in WikiHow. However, upon doing that, I feel that the system is too ineffective, that is, we can only answer questions in a very specific topic. I think something should be done about it. Maybe we could change it so that we could answer questions in multiple fields, or have the unanswered auestions randomized. What do you think?

@SergeantPro There is a reason behind this. I can’t remember the exact reason but I know I asked @Anna when it was first rolled out. She can correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s something like we want people answering questions that they know about. Not just guessing, especially for medical/law type things. So, if they know about the category they can go to that category.

Pretty much, @InfernoTerra , yep! I know if I were served up random questions in, say, animal care or Pokémon topics, I’d have no real clue how to help… whereas if I choose categories I know more about personally, like iPhone or pregnancy, I stand a much better chance of being helpful to readers:stuck_out_tongue: @SergeantPro You can still help in multiple areas, though - just pick a new topic area you know about, when you get bored with the first, and you’ll be given articles and questions in that whole new zone that you’re an expert in:slight_smile:

I think it would be nice if one could have multiple areas at once, rather than going through one topic at a time. For example, I know things about Mathematics and Chemistry, but sometimes it takes me a whole lot of times before I find a question that is suitable for answering. It would be efficient if I can view questions from both fields at the same time, to save time.

Ah, variety is the spice of life, eh?:slight_smile:My hunch is that the way the tool and queue is built, this is easier said than done (guessing based on the fact I know the Topic Greenhouse has to handle one topic at a time, before moving on to the next, even if you select multiple categories). That being said, you never know what might be feasible in future variations of the tool - this is already a V2 that’s more developed than the first version was. So it’s not a bad idea to keep in mind if the tool ever goes through another big redesign. Thanks for bringing it up! It’s good to know that you think this would help you as an answerer.

yes i think somthing should be done about it

I’m new here but I would think that whatever needs to be done to make things work better, should call for a change. Maybe after I looked around more I will find what you are talking about and have a better understanding.

How do I go on to other questions posted in this section?

i’m not new i been  here over 3 days

@Famous_niya   I’ve been here for over 4 years! XD

It’s not really the years that count, though.  It’s more of the experience you get in wikiHow.
