Hi everyone, on this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Add-Downloading-Button-on-You-Tube I did a partial editing - removed a duplicate image on step 2 and place a “change title” tag . However after spending quite some time I did not succeed to get the steps correctly numerated. I can’t figure out what the problem is but I don’t want to make things worse. Please help if you would. It really needs to get formatted to match the wiki’s standards.

Ok. I took care of that title change for you. I may be a good person to fix formatting on article, but this is just too weird for me to figure out.

Thanks Chris. I appreciate it, and agree - this article is a real challenge. I did my best to get it formatted and looking nice, but when I previewed I noticed that the numeration got messed up, and I could not figure out what the heck was wrong.

@Byankno1 Chris, I think I sort of got it straigntened up: all the numeration is correct. I don’t want to mess up with this article any more. PLEASE take a look at it again (I need one more set of eyes!) and if you feel it looks OK delete the “format” tag. Thanks a bunch for your help!

I did some formatting on it, but I think it might just be a candidate for nfd|adv? I changed the title to be more in line with commercial guidelines, but I wouldn’t say it’s a full how-to, really - more just an ad for the extension. Still, here’s what I’ve done! Hope it helps! http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Add-a-Download-Button-to-YouTube-with-Tampermonkey&diff=11574460&oldid=11568822

Hi @Anna , first I thought of putting the NFD on it but then I thought “Well, may be I’ll get straightened up”. What you saw was the best I could do with this article. I would not take as advertisement, but you know better. ----------------------- I am also having a hard time getting this other article formatted: http://www.wikihow.com/Pass-Time I have done everything I possibly could to format it but it looked messy, so I quit editing. I am sorry to say that. I have a feeling that this author created an article on MS Word and just copied the whole thing to wikiHow. That is my impression.

No not at all - I don’t know better than anyone else, and I’ve been around less time than most, so I’ll defer to the experience! If you think it can be a thorough how-to, feel free to edit more or reach out to the author to see if they can add more to it. Either way, the title change is probably a good thing according to the commercial guidelines, so it might survive an NFD vote, anyway. Or if you feel strongly about it, I’d be fine with removing the nfd tag, 'cause honestly I don’t have a strong opinion either way on that one - it was just my hunch! It looks like Pass Time was suffering from some vandalism that removed the first section and the == Steps == header, which has always been important for formatting (things on any article end up not displaying right if it’s not there). So I rolled back the most recent edit, tweaked a little, and I think it’s good to go - as always, could probably be improved further, but that was my quick shot at it! What do you think? Feel free to do some more editing over there if you want to! Great catch, Laura! http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Pass-Time&diff=11577170&oldid=11572430

@Anna , thank you. I like your edit of the second article Pass Time. Oh gosh, I did not think of vandalism at all. Next time I will be more vigilant, and, more experienced too.:wink:Wow, all the pictures the author added were removed too?! Anna, what is your action against the vandal this? I noticed there was “another” IP addy number (94.0.243…) It makes me really angry. Why on earth people like him/her want to destroy the article like this? I know it’s legal on wiki to remain incognito like this. But don’t we have a lot of troubles with these people? ---------------------- On the first article “Download button on YouTube” I will contact the author and suggest him to add more and make him aware that otherwise the article will be deleted.

Well, to be honest, I just chose to “assume good faith” in this case – he wasn’t writing anything obscene or abusive, just removing a section; he may just not have realized that he removed the information (remember how hard it was to figure out the wiki editing at first? It was for me, anyway!). So I fixed it but left it at that, in this case. If I saw a lot of poor edits coming from the same IP address/user, then I think that’d call for coaching and even warning or blocking, but in this case, it seems to just be a one-off on his part, so hopefully it’s not an ongoing problem:slight_smile:I know it can be hard not to get ticked off. Sometimes I get annoyed too! But I try to keep the community “assume good faith” value in mind: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Assume-Good-Faith Thanks for contacting the author on that other article! It won’t certainly be deleted anyway - it’s just a nomination and will be voted on. So it’s a nomination, but not a certainty at this point. You could always suggest this article to him, too: http://www.wikihow.com/Save-an-Article-from-NFD Thanks for the great input and help, Laura!

@Anna , you are welcome. I understand your point about vandalism. It has to be an ongoing problem in order to take some actions. I take vandalism as when damage was done intentionally. In this case, in the best faith this was not done intentionally, perhaps due to inexperience. //Like you said hopefully it’s not an ongoing problem\. I also understand about the first article. I will definitely suggest him this article about NFD.:slight_smile:Thanks a lot, Anna.
