Wasn’t sure where to put this discuss…However. I created this thread to talk about something…Biting new editors. While patrolling RC, noticed some users (not giving names) keep leaving massages to new editors while being a bit rude… It’s not really noticed, but it happens often. Example: My cousin. She joined wikiHow. Everything was doing great…While she was patrolling RC, she reverted an edit made in my talk page. So she left a message to the user who made that edit telling him that she reverted that edit. The author removed that message. My cousin got confused. “How come? I just left her a message, where is it?!”. So she left that message again, the author removed it, she left her a message again. Then, a small battle, created a bigger work for the recent changes, and made my cousin get a wrong idea about wikiHow. For good luck, she is my cousin. But for others new editors… So, that’s a small reminder to users to be nice while coaching. P.S (1) - If someone knows the names of the users, please don’t provide them. (2) - Not sure if there was an old thread about that. If there is already one, sorry for creating a duplicated one.
^ Agreed. Everyone needs to remember to assume good faith with new editors. Instead of thinking that they’re maliciously trying to destroy the site, patiently coach them so that they know how wikiHow works. I know that it required a lot of patience, but let’s not forget that a new user could have a bad start and then eventually blossom into an amazing contributer!
So your cousin left someone a talk page message saying she’d reverted an edit, and the person receiving the message deleted it off their talk page? If this is what you’re saying then I feel people shouldn’t keep sending the messages. I’m not having a go at your cuz but if their message is being deleted then don’t waste breath on the person.
Well, we can’t do that. If you revert an edit without telling someone, it could be a big mess.
That’s why we have the coaching quicknotes. It may be a little bad at first, but it’s the best think to do. It’s working out pretty fine.

If the owner of the talk page did the deleting? Take it as a sign that they read the message and are “filing” it away to make room for other messages. No need to get grumpy about it or repost it.

I wasn’t mad or anything. My cousin is a bit sensitive but in the same way, she get angry easily. However, all I wanted to do, is to remind editors to be nice and careful while coaching. I was giving an example
Yep. Assume good faith in everyone.

I didn’t think that the editor deleted that message for appearing that “they didn’t get a coaching message”. Anyway, that’s not the discuss. The main point is that everyoneshould be nice while coaching. Even when not coaching. While leaving any message to any editor.
