I’ve begun a new project to offer mentoring/coaching services to new RC patrollers. I often notice users helping these folks out, and I think it’ll be even better by offering help as formal patrolling coaches to these new patrollers. It is similar to the Mentoring Project in several aspects, but is more specifically tailored to helping users learn the ropes of RC. Link to the project is here: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:RC-Buddy-Project I’m not sure if there is a project or effort like this already, but with a recent increase in new patrollers joining in, I hope this can help us offer our experience and services to them if they would like. Any ideas or feedback? Feel free to revise the project page as you see fit improving the instructions, tips, etc. as well.

I think it’s a really good idea. There’s quite a few edits that slip the net, and while I’m not pointing at new patrollers specifically, I cant see an experienced patroller miss most of them. A lot of new members like to start out in RC, and this project will not only benefit RC as a whole, but help give them the confidence and skills to go on to contribute to other areas of the site. And we need all the patrollers we can get! In my opinion, I’d prefer to see new members out in RC helping to correct edits than jumping straight into writing articles. Great idea Jordan!

Awesome idea! To help out, I just wrote up these pages, to help you find people to mentor: http://www.wikihow.com/Patrol-Patrollers-on-wikiHow http://www.wikihow.com/Check-Who-Patrolled-an-Edit-on-wikiHow

They look great, Krystle - thanks! Also, editors are welcome to add themselves as someone who can pair up members with patrollers in need of coaching, as I may not always be available.

Hm, I can’t always keep an eye on someone’s patrols, but I wouldn’t mind coaching newbies (I <3 doing that, if everyone hasn’t noticed) on their patrols. Not exactly sure how to track those though…?
