I’ve got an idea for a new template over on the main site. A Forums Invitetemplate.
I know when I first started on wikiHow it took me a few weeks to even discover the forums, and only after being told by another contributor.
This template would be one to place on the talk page of a new contributor who seems promising, to let them know the forums exists, which can be a great place for encouragement and support.
Here's a draft:
Hi there!
Even though you’re only relatively new to wikiHow, I’ve noticed you’ve made some amazing contributions, and you’re a valuable asset to our community. Because of this, I would like to personally invite you to the wikiHow Forums
. The forums are a place for our amazing community to come together to share ideas, encourage one another, and grow as one as we advance wikiHow’s Mission.
I hope to see you over there!
What are we thinking? Would this be of any use?

Hi, Ruppy! That sounds really good; I think that when I was a newbie, I would have appreciated the message. One thing I might include was a mention or a link to the guidelines. I’ve been seeing some posts deleted, and some people seem to not have read the guidelines.

I like the idea but I do not know if it is at all necessary. The link is already prominent in the navbar (under explore) on the top of every page and a lot of users eventually find their way to the forums, usually because Jayne featured them in a community achievements post and they notified them on their talk page.

This would be great, especially with people who want to chat with other users but can’t find forms.
