I’ve been doing a lot of NFD voting recently, and I’ve noticed that while our admins have been quite active (a shoutout to the fantastic @Lugia2453 for her help there), there are some spots where only NABs have voted. And even if seven of us have voted for deletion and there are no votes for keeping, the article has to wait for an admin vote. Could there be a change so that to delete an article, either there must be one admin and another user supporting deletion OR six NABs supporting deletion, rather than requiring an admin for every single deletion? Thank you!

This can’t happen. The reason being is, only admins can delete articles. Therefore, an admin vote IS required. I guess it’s also a safeguard measure as well.

I’m actually a male, but thanks for the shoutout there. And as Lutherus said, this wouldn’t happen because only admins can delete an article.

If there were a way to do it, I, too, would favor deletion when six boosters vote for deletion in NFD Guardian. I generally skip articles that have three or more booster votes for deletion (unless the title looks promising), because, at that point, my vote is insignificant. To me, it is not worth taking the time to evaluate the article and the discuss page.

Sorry, @Lugia2453 . I understand that the right belongs to admins and do agree with the fact that they should be much higher than NABs, but I’m calling for a bit of a policy change, so that articles with seven, eight, or nine votes are eliminated and don’t clog up the list. Apologies if that sounds very drastic. However, I do understand the issue with it being a safeguard (again, spamming NABs, not to mention that you have a better understanding of the policy and have to go through more for your position), so I also understand if this would not be possible. Thank you for your replies!

I’ve supported this idea for quite a while. In fact, I’ve always felt that a completely community based deletion system (where a regular user’s vote actually counts) would be better than our current system, where the true fate of articles is in the hands of admins and boosters. But, that’s a bit beyond the point, and I don’t think such a radical change will ever happen.

I can understand why regular users aren’t allowed - I mean, there are so many spammers, it could end up being chaos. I think those with a membership of three months and/or 200+ contribs could be okay, however.

As far as I know, those using NFD Guardian are supposed to take into account arguments for or against deletion written by regular users on the discussion page. Though with anons, we generally disregard their comments unless it’s a very compelling argument.
