For the past few weeks, I have not been getting any thumbs up edits. I tested this out by giving myself one by making a quick edit during patrolling and then going back and giving myself a thumbs-up. (Don’t worry, I’ve never done this before) However, I never actually received the thumbs up? Is this a glitch? Any help appreciated!

I noticed a similar glitch. You can read about it in my thead in bug reports.

The more you patrol, the more thumbs up you get. How many thumbs up do you usually get? You can keep track by adding a UIB on your user page that keeps track of how many thumbs up you get. Just type in User Thumbs Up, in these brackets: {{ }} {{ }} { }, two on each side, and then after User Thumbs Up, put a straight line like this: | or these: ||||, just one after User Thumbs Up. After that line, put the number of thumbs up you have gotten! Every time you get a new thumbs up, it will tell you. Confused? I can just add that for you and see it you like it, so much easier. Always determined to help out my fellow wikiHowians to make it a better community! Have a Great Day, CiCi XO:wink:<3

It looks like this by the way: {{User Thumbs Up|40}} if you have received 40 thumbs up.

@CiCiLovesKatniss Not trying to be rude, but a person can get a thumbs up whenever they do quality work on wikiHow. The person patrolling can give a thumbs up to an editor, but you won’t get thumbs ups for patrolling:slight_smile:

Maybe I’m being silly but I would have thought that you can’t give yourself a thumbs up. Otherwise some people would do what jirachiqueen did hundreds of times over without doing a proper edit.

Yeah, I don’t think you can give yourself thumbs up… RANDOM GUY AT MY DORE WISH ME LUCK OMG LOL!

I mean door LOL.

You CAN give yourself a thumbs up, though it is not encouraged and fairly rare, considering how many people are patrolling changes. Unless you’re trying to determine a glitch, like in Jirachi Queen’s case, you shouldn’t do it. Most likely it’s just a glitch. These happen every once it a while and will probably be straightened out, but it also may just be that you aren’t getting as many thumbs up as you were previously. Continue to do quality work and you may see them showing up. If not, I would consider just reporting it in the forums and waiting. Don’t worry.

If this is still happening, please contact me on my talk page so we can test it:slight_smile:

This may be related, and as often is the case, it may be a problem on my low bandwidth end but I have sent several quickmessages lately, and checked to follow up the messages, and they don’t appear on the user’s talkpage. I have also did a few quickedits, got the confirmation message, then went back to check the edit history to make sure I haven’t missed anything only to find the quickedit didn’t affect the article page.

Can you confirm that the articles that you edited and received thumbs-ups on weren’t deleted?

Shouldn’t this be filed in bug reports @Maluniu ? Here’s some information on this bug I’ve found: http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/4312/problem-with-thumbs-up-not-displaying-work-around./#Item_1

It’s OK. Just keep on editing and you will eventually get a thumbs up!

That’s not the problem-people were probably giving me thumbs ups, but the site didn’t tell me I was getting them.:slight_smile: @Krystle , I’m receiving thumbs ups again. The discussion should be closed after the bug report is filed.

You mean @Krystle , right?

@writelf , ^(see thread 2 threads up)

Huh? What am I looking at, @Byankno1 ?

This is obviously a bug. But this thread has been placed into the group as "Help using wikiHow. Shouldn’t this be moved to another grouping @Writelf ?

I suppose… I think there already is one in bug reports, but I’ll move this one too.
