I was checking wikiHow just the other day when I saw I had a message. I clicked on it and it turned out that I had received the exact same message the day earlier. I read it, see the edit and the notification sign is still there. Is this common or is it just me?

Check your history - someone may have reverted a talk page message, and then someone else reverted that revert, or they may have edited your talk page.

and see what you can do with your notification preferences.
This happened to me as well. I did what Krystle suggested. Hover on your Messages tab, click “Show all notifications” and scroll all the way to the bottom, refresh the page and then return to wikiHow’s home page. Hope that helps @Darkfrost
