Ok, so I’ve come across some inhumane articles on Wikihow recently, like how to cook your cat, make honey soy kitten etc. Even though they’ve been deleted, the user just keeps making more, and I’m rather concerned that some people are using WikiHow as a joke site, not a site that is meant to help people on real things. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to name the user, so I’m not going to, but I went on their talk page and many people are saying that, ‘they love their funny articles’ and ‘keep making more!’ Am I just overreacting? Are these sort of articles allowed on WikiHow? Thanks in advance! XXX

Actually, cooking your cat isn’t a joke, and is legal in China.

Hi, I had the same issue. There were two reactions and one conclusion. 1st reaction: from the readers point of view-when I search for strange stuff and I find it, I feel good that wikihow has it all. 2nd reaction: as a part of wikihow as a writer-OMG this article will teach bad things to readers. Conclusion: The internet has all the good and bad stuff in it already. Readers will go to another site if bad stuff is not in wikihow. So, why not wikihow to have it all. I have a personal suggestion and a request: why not leave a worldwide perspective in the warning section or with the steps itself as to how it is viewed in other cultures. This kind of a query has been raised in the past and the discussion has been closed. One may feel resentful about having no one to agree with you. Agreement is not more sort after than solution. I feel a perspective added in the article could make wikihow a winner as it will have all the relevant information, make unaware minds know that there are other cultures or laws in the world which don’t allow such activities, and not have the other writers feeling unvalued.

Can we have the username please?

Report the users to the ANB and let us admins handle them.

I’ve encountered this user and based on the talk page messages they have sent me and the images they’ve uploaded, they look like a classic attention-seeking troll (not a chef from a different culture). Upsetting people appears to be their goal. @Lutherus Is there anything I can do to be helpful? I’ve never dealt with this sort of thing before and am not sure how to handle wikiHow trolls.

@MissLunaRose The best thing to do is to report them on the Administrator Notice Board (ANB) in the appropriate section: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Administrator-Notice-Board and an administrator will review the edits and/or articles to determine if action needs to be taken. If you aren’t sure where to place the report, you can place it under Miscellaneous and we’ll handle it. This is preferred to opening forum threads about each vandal or unruly editor. Many admins watch the ANB, so rest assured that it will be handled quickly.

Thank you! I reported the issue just now.

@MissLunaRose thanks that was a huge problem bugging me
