Duplicates of pictures that have already been used in articles have been accepted but @SarahB explained to me we shouldn’t accept these images since these are already used in the article. We should scroll down during patrolling to check if any images are used in the article. If they are used in the article already,we should click no. I was a little confused at first but I understood what the Sarah was telling me. I thought we should spread around this important info. Any comments to this info about Picture Patrol?

Yes, I think it makes sense if the image is already in the article, then the person who is uploading it didn’t really take it themselves, so this is certainly something to look out for. The wikiHow watermark can often be a quick giveaway.

Yes, Chris has mentioned this before on one forum

Well, this info is important and this should get to everyone. We want to help wikiHow in the best possible way, and we should be able to help it by not accepting more work that Admins don’t really need to focus on. By accepting duplicated images, this creates loads of work for everyone, delaying our mission and goal we want to reach for wikiHow.

Alright, I have been giving a yes to those images but I wont henceforward. We shouldnt give a yes to the same image again one after another right? Sometimes we see the same image (in the same article) twice in picture patrol.

If it has the wikiHow logo,we shouldn’t accept it because it’s a duplicate image of the article that already has that image. Scroll down when your patrolling to see if that image is there already,if it is there, then you click no so it won’t duplicate. We can’t have the same images duplicated more than once.

Yes. Here it is: http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/15693/reminder-for-picture-patrol-tool .

Oh my goodness. Are all these instructions available in our picture patrolling instruction page? If not then lets begin one:slight_smile:

I don’t think these instructions are found on Picture Patrol. I think we should totally have these instructions so users can make sure they’re helping in a useful manner.

@DragonZKai7 Absolutely. We must take care that the instructions dont seem too much. Just crisp information. Lets get a nod. @Krystle Please share your views on making an article on picture patrolling instructions. Or may be we will add along once you or another admin starts it. As you say.

There is an article how to use the picture patrol

Please provide the link. May be it could be updated with the instructions?

I do believe we need more tools on the Picture Patrol. Maybe a way to see who uploaded an image so we can coach them or thank them? Nearly half of the picture patrol is filled with nonsense

Thats true. Many selfies apart from that some good images have to be deleted because of either uploading it wrongly or with extra background, or people etc. We can definitely coach them.

@Vishwavijay http://www.wikihow.com/Use-the-wikiHow-Picture-Patrol-App @WikihowSaver The images uploaded that are patrolled in Picture Patrol are from anonymous users using the mobile site. We can’t really “coach” these users… that’s the point of Picture Patrol - to weed out the bad images and approve the good ones.

Thanks @Isorhythmic . I read the article and made small editing of what I noticed. I didnt get this part of the tip, I put it in quotes- *If you’d like to find out more about the item the picture could later be applied to, you can look “below the picture for a copy of the article the picture would be applied to, at it’s current stage. If unsure, that information can surely help you out a bit.”

Moreover, this article could mention information like: If the article is not going with the rest of the images like, if all the images of the article are computer graphic, then a new ‘real life’ image should be deleted and vice versa. If the image is uploaded upside down, uploaded with some background (unrelated) activity or not cropped right, it could be deleted. Since there are many images which have the matter right except with some unpolished background like of someone’s living room, children at the back, bits of papers etc… I have seen other voters, sometimes say yes to these images. They need to know so they dont okay it.

I know but it doesn’t say about the info we just received. I guess we have to add that to the article,or no?

Almost all of the pictures there are filled with nonsense and most of them are going to get deleted. But I want to do is start a page where all users see the info about picture patrol. When they’re new and start picture patrol, they click yes because of the wikiHow logo on the corner and no to the nonsense, which is great but the wikiHow images are creating a bump of paperwork to our hard-working admins. But where can we add that page so everyone’ll get the info?

@DragonZKai7 in the above comments, Isorhythmic posted this link http://www.wikihow.com/Use-the-wikiHow-Picture-Patrol-App but this one could be further specific of image quality requirement.
