Apologies for another discussion, let me know if you’d like me to post in existing threads instead of creating new ones.

I was just wondering what the process for answering questions is. If I mark a question as unhelpful or duplicate, is it removed or is it checked to see if it’s one of those? Saying this because I’ve marked two answers as duplicate and they’ve been reappearing.

Also, once I post an answer to a question, what happens? Is it checked by someone and then posted if it’s okay? Saying this because I’ve answered questions but the same questions have reappeared again.

@Anna would probably have an answer for the flagging process, but I know how it works when you submit an answer:

Basically, if you submit an answer to a question, it goes into the Q&A Review process. I think there are filters and such that detect spam or gibberish or otherwise nonsense answers and auto-deletes those, but if it’s not deleted by that filter, it’ll go on to be reviewed by a Q&A patroller. The patroller will either copyedit and publish the Q&A, or they’ll delete the answer (and potentially the question) if it’s not a good one. But they do make mistakes - I’ve had to get the staff to scold the Q&A reviewers for deleting perfectly good responses:stuck_out_tongue:

The Q&A review process isn’t normally available, by the way - it’s currently on a bit of a beta system, so only a few people have access to it. That’s why you don’t have the option to review Q&As.

No need to apologize, @99sobi ! As long as you’re posting on distinct questions/topics, you’re more than welcome to post new threads.

When an unanswered question gets flagged as unhelpful or as a duplicate, it gets removed when it receives  two  unhelpful/duplicate votes. This serves as a bit of protection against any flukey flagging that might go down. Votes by admins and boosters count for two points though, so when someone with those rights flags something as unhelpful or as a duplicate, it gets removed right away.

@Galactic-Radiance is spot on as far as what happens when you submit a question. Questions that are submitted get reviewed and copyedited before they get approved (by a combination of folks working through the wikiHaus and boosters/admins who have taken and passed a test built around Q&A review). So you won’t see the answers to the questions until they’ve gone through this review process which vets them for helpfulness. Bam!

Patrollers can make mistakes, so if you ever have concerns about a particular question, feel free to send me or @Anna a talk page message and we can look into it! But for the most part, the backlog of answers to review is just pretty big, so it tends to take a while for some answers to show up, all reviewed and nicely polished and whatnot. But they don’t disappear into the oblivion, as it may sometimes appear:smiley:

bom dia .
