Over the past 2 years I’ve been creating iPhone based articles. Today, after creating an article about the GetGlue.com
website, I got an interesting talk page message from Maluniu. She appears to have an iPad. Now I’m not asking about this, but, she seems to me, to want to make something that has the same steps on an iPhone, be the same name as the steps for the iPad. I can’t backup the statement about the iPad, as I don’t own one. But it’s always been explained to me, that, the only time we keep it simpler is when two (it’s just as confusing trying to type it here) check the conversation between the two of us, please.

And from Byankno1, I got: “A consensus has always been achieved for any Apple device using the term iPhone no matter what iOS device we mention, unless the process is different. Hold on. I’m asking in forums on this question, but I think that’s what we’ve always done.” Can someone please clarify about the mysterious consensus?
LOL. Only about three of the things said in that review are true now.
I meant in titles for articles. So get the story straight. I realize that there are a few minor differences in operating system preferences between the two devices, but, when you started in with this iPad stuff, I’m totally confused.
Is there a need to be so blunt? Hmm… not really.
We’ve always kept to one simple title and since iPod touches almost replicate those found on iPhones, we’ve always used the term “iPhone”. I think I got my story straight now. Still need clarification, to make sure this is the case. It’s still a very vague policy when we see the process the same with iPads. (I can’t backup any process that is also the same on an iPad, as I don’t own any at this present time).
Why don’t we just go with the title being along the lines of “On your iOS Device”?
What is the policy on this?(denotation) specific to these devices.

Where was this “consensus” or who are these “we’ve always kept to one simple title” people?
Want to have this in writing Mal!

Sure, because you’re sounding as if you’re defending this imaginative consensus that I have never heard of of having every iOS device article pertaining to the iPhone as the default unless there’s something different.
That’s sorta what I was thinking. I currently don’t think that we actually have one. It’s just kind of been a “play it by whatever works best”
That’s the same thing I’ve been going by. The definition Mal gave is completely not the answer I’ve ever heard.
Are you referencing to this:
?
Yep. Your explanation was what I’ve always heard in reference to the policy, when this issue occurs.

What definition? I asked why the “iPhone” is specifically left in the title when every single step I can do on my iPad (and yes, I have the GetGlue app). This was your talk page response to me:_ "A consensus has always been achieved for any Apple device using the term iPhone no matter what iOS device we mention, unless the process is different._I’m asking you where is the validation of this consensus or why are you defending something that is imaginary?

I have read every policy discussion posted in 5 years, and seen many changes, some (at least one?) that I almost agreed with, and have to believe that this is an imaginary policy, at best, or at worst, it is one person trying to impose a policy of his own creation? Chris, all you have to do is link to a source of this policy, so someone can read it, and it will be easy enough to hold a discussion, but honestly, I haven’t ever seen any discussion about such a policy.
With the week from hell I just had, its apparent I made up some jibberish. If you we’re in the shoes that I had to fill, you would have said the same thing before discussing the policy in the correct place. Sorry if I made a mess out of anything, but I really thought there was something about article titles as those overall viewpoints in this post. @maluniu
