I was patrolling, and as many people know, there was a vandal today spamming talk pages. I edited many pages (didn’t rollback because I was so confused, I just edited to get rid of the message), and the change the vandal made wasn’t marked as patrolled. I went ahead and marked it as patrolled since I think I heard somewhere that if it’s edited, it’s fine to mark it as patrolled (reducing backlog). I’m just writing this message asking someone to confirm that.

Talk pages can be easy - and as long as all the spammy messages are removed via an edit, rollback or undo, it’s safe to press “mark as patrolled” (according to the message) to move forward. - and yes, @FlowerPower555
I did see your edit on my talk page from this same vandal - I just was getting up from rest and hadn’t gotten to that yet.

And to add on to Chris’s reply, if in the event you are patrolling traditionally, it’s sometimes not a good choice to mark a vandal edit as patrolled after you rolled it back. Because if the vandalism is patrolled, it goes live while your revert hasn’t been patrolled yet so the vandalism would be viewable to readers.
