I’ve had a few personal projects I’ve wanted to work on for several months now, and while one is starting to wrap up from my end, this project is only one of a few projects. However, without help I can’t seem to complete the intended projects. There’s only one thing that bugs me that I still can’t seem to hold together. I know that most projects on the site are devoted to articles that already have been written and need to be edited, but is there a way a project can be built that would pertain to others helping to create articles on a given topic? While these ideas further the mission, to get these ideas out I’d need a ton more help on creating these articles. For the one, I even presently have a guide that describes just how much work goes into getting this information out. ANd although I’m open to ideas of other articles that could be written, I do have several that others could help me out with to begin, while I do have 2-3 examples of (what I would consider a great job with one of two) Rising Star quality. The other, there are several great articles out there but there are so, so many other choices that it’s inevitable knowing just how wide this universe is in the depths of the ideas but have so many ideas, and while there is no guide to help, I do intend to create the guide to writing a really successful one, as well. (If you know me well enough, you’ll be able to understand my thoughts about these two projects I’m aiming to begin.)
I’m confused: Can a wikiHow project pertain to having others help create/begin other articles here? The article about beginning a project here does not cover this concept, of whether or not this type of project would be allowed.
Yeah, I could see a project like that. Speaking out of personal experience, the Autism Project ran an article-creation initiative last April, so it wouldn’t be much of a leap to make a project specifically about
article creation.
Let me know if you’d like a hand here or there. I’ve written a lot of detailed articles before, and may be able to share advice for people looking to do the same.
I was hoping that users could help write a plethora of articles of visiting theme parks worldwide. But as you probably know, the reader would like more information once the person get’s there, so it’s not THAT simple. I’ve covered all the Disney World, Disneyland, both Busch Gardens parks, the two major SeaWorld and LEGOLAND (USA) parks, but there are lots of in-depth areas that need to be established and created which could branch out to Six Flags’ many parks and even Hershey Park. Trying to focus more on the major theme parks at first, but that could branch out, as I know of others (KNotts Berry Farm, Cedar Point and a mess of others come to mind). There’s tons of research on most of the rides at most theme parks on YouTube, if the initial-creator needs some help in researching-land, as well as some pictures on Flickr.)
I’ll begin creating the two projects I had in mind. It’s been one of my secret projects for over the past 2 years now, (I could give some of the ideas that I have yet to tackle, but there are lots of theme parks worldwide, and my list would surely not be big enough to tackle the whole world) and I’m hoping to branch out into another project that I’m trying to invest some of my time now into doing. I can supervise and help train those who need some help, but I’m trying to concentrate on other areas now, so any help is needed on my first “secret project” once I can get the project page up and working which should be within the next few days (probably by middle of next week).
The project page for project#1 still has a few things to go to become “done” with the project page, however, it’s set up in essence that people can now sign up to help out if they’d like. I still need to create the invitation and award templates, along with a UIB stating the user is a member of the project, need to create the article that explains better how these articles should be created (though it’s partially explained in the one section alone as of right now) and link some related wikiHows to this project page. It’s been started, but it’s in it’s state of flux as we speak.
