If you are a regular in the forum then you will know that @Krystle had raised the issue that there should be a bit of a change in the way we welcome new users and many of us also agreed. To know more you can check out this thread- http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/comment/26437/#Comment_26437 As you know that many users join wikihow everyday and not everyone receives their welcome message immediately - http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/2180/huge-backlog-of-un-welcomed-users/#Item_4 (this thread is started by @Grahamster ) So here i have an idea why don’t we have the option of ‘Welcome new User’ on the community dashboard so that we’ll be able to decrease this number? Because at present its not easily available. What do you think?

Once the welcome tool is created the issue of unwelcomed users would be eliminated as everyone would be welcomed automatically upon registering (or shortly thereafter)

The next thing we are going to do to address this problem is to try out the welcoming tool we discussed a few weeks ago. What we need now is just to find the engineer time to implement it, since our engineers have their hands full right now. But hopefully it will be sooner than later, and I’m one of the people eagerly awaiting when we can try it out!
