Over the last few weeks, I’ve been encouraged to archive several talk pages of several users. While I wouldn’t be opposed to some talk pages, the talk pages I’m talking about (and where I’m seeing people asking “Can I please have your help with archiving them?” was when there is/was only a handful (less than 10 messages) on the page. Archiving is supposed to be for when a page has so many messages that it interferes with either scrollability or performance of the talk page.

Since there are some limits to how many archive pages show on the Archive template (per the instructions on here and here ) the template limits itself to containing up to 50 Archive pages - then suddenly stops showing new archive pages. But there’s a solution, archive a talk page once, then keep adding onto the page up until the last day of the year, then create a new archive page. Those who’ve fallen victim to chatting, chatty messages can be removed either onsite or at time of archiving to avoid even the archive pages becoming too underperforming to your electronics processor. (I archive my talk page several times a year to one archive page and create new pages at years end.)

Btw I have archived my Talk Page myself, is it ok?

Unfortunately, I didn’t want to name any names here or call out anyone in particular. But I don’t see why it’s not okay. Just giving everyone a heads-up that that’s why I am pushing for longer pages before archiving.
