I was using the templates {{button}} and {{keypress}} yesterday when I realized that many game console articles use button controls. I do know that the {{keypress}} template has 4 buttons for playstation, but I was looking to expand that. I though that maybe myself and some other people could create some new templates that would resemble the shape and name of a designated game controller button. My second idea also slightly ties into the last one. I was thinking that we could create another template that says that templates (ex. {{code}}, {{keypress}}, {{button}}) could be used to “spiffy” up the article. I just wanted to check with the community before I started and I am wanting to hear what people think

I’m here.
Wii, DS, GameCube, etc
It definitely sounds like a great idea, but I’m afraid I can’t help much. I have too much on my plate (specifically school, driver’s ed, and job hunting), and I actually should spend less time on wikiHow than I currently am.

Hey guys, I brought over the {{button}} and {{keypress}} templates from wikipedia, and I’ve been thinking along the exact same lines! I’ve actually started work on a set of Playstation buttons with the right shapes and colors, which should be easy to port into an Xbox template as well. Work on the template is a little slow right now as I accidentally lost my original file in a reformat, but this post has motivated me to get back to work on it. @GamerKing132
I’ll send you a message as soon as I get the basic Playstation template up and you can take it from there! Edit: It should be fairly easy to make templates for all of the major systems once the Playstation one is complete (my bias is showing), since they’ll just need tweaks for colors and shapes.

Honestly wouldn’t be entirely sure how to do this, but I’m totally open to try doing a GameCube one with a little direction.

It all sounds like great feedback so I am going to start an Xbox one.
Just wanted to share today’s progress. Face buttons are done, starting on the shoulder buttons tomorrow. The final template will hopefully include Keypress-like functionality that allows you to combine buttons and automatically insert “+” between each one.

@CQinPDX
In fact, would you mind sending me the template link?
@GamerKing132
It’s on the dev site, I’ll get online tomorrow!

How exactly do you create it though? @Confusionist

I’m basing the xbox buttons off of the keypress template.

I don’t really have the time for that, unfortunately ;-; But these templates look great!! Edit: Oops, sorry to bump. For some reason, every email I’ve gotten about someone pinging me in the forums ever has just gotten sent to me for a second time…

No worries Marina, I’m already working at it.
