Oh, and if they’re sex-related articles that are not against our deletion policy, those articles would be a-okay and are accepted here (e.g “Have Safer Sex” or “Make Sex Last Longer”.) But like Pugle said, what articles are you concerned about? =)

My personal thoughts: While I can understand your concerns about the contents of our articles regarding sex, the wikiHaus has a limited number of engineers, and I don’t think we’d have enough engineering time to spend on this project. I’m not really sure why we need to implement such a feature, either. Very young readers wouldn’t be looking for this type of topic and wouldn’t be very likely to stumble on it by mistake with the kinds of articles they would be reading, and even if they did, our articles on sex are not sexually explicit by the Deletion Policy. And if the reader is really young enough to not be looking at that content at all, wouldn’t it just make more sense for a parent to restrict their internet access or install a website/word filter blacklist?
Plus, age barriers can easily be bypassed by entering any date that was more than 18 years ago, and installing an age barrier on our articles would most likely end up causing some weirdness with some of our tools that use direct viewing of those articles (such as Recent Changes Patrol). It would also likely lock out good-faith contributors from that article who are trying to revert vandalism, but can’t because they’re under 18 and entered in their birth date correctly.
I hope that makes sense? Please let me know if it doesn’t. I’d be happy to clarify.
If you wanted Anna just to respond you could of just messaged her on her talk page. =) A forum post is for all to respond and engage in. wikiHow is not a site to ‘child-proof’ articles that parents don’t want a child to see - if parents are so worried about what their child is viewing online they can always take steps to take care of their child’s needs.

The site is already restricted for users under 13, but we are not the thought police, nor are we the morality police of the world.
We already limit objectionable materials to a large degree, but going further is not our province, nor our responsibility. No one forces a reader to read here. No one is forcing you to look at anything you don’t want to look at.
