Tomorrow is an exciting day for our engineering team! One of the key parts of our responsive redesign will be put into place. This release will affect the way that articles look on mobile devices. Now the layout will depend on the screen size, with accommodations for small, medium and large screens. Because this only affects mobile pages ( m.wikihow.com ), you shouldn’t notice any changes on the Desktop version of wikiHow.

If you happen to be using the mobile site and notice any quirks or bugs, please feel free to post them in the Bug section here on the forums. We will triage and prioritize any bugs that come in for the engineering team.

Of course with the changes there may be some new things to get used to on mobile, but the team is always working to make sure the changes are as positive as possible for both editors and readers alike. We hope you’re as excited as we are! :)

Hopefully the responsive redesign project does not stop responding… xD

Okay, good to know! I rarely (if ever) go on the mobile site, but it is helpful to know anyway.

LOL!

Also, @JayneG , do you know if this will affect the mobile apps at all, or is it just the website?

@R2_d2000 , as far as I know it is just the website, not the apps at this stage. This is “part one” :)

I see, thank you. I’ll have to check out the mobile website tomorrow to see what changed.

Will it affect my browser if I use the desktop version on my mobile?

New mobile layout! Yay! That will be quite good for me because I mainly access wikiHow through my phone.

Thanks for bringing the exciting news to us Jayne. I switch between mobile and desktop version with desktop being the easier one so far. Hope this update makes wikiHowing all the more easier on the eyes.

@Aizo I don’t believe so - this is just the pages with m.wikihow.com - so if you request the desktop version on mobile, it shouldn’t be any different at this stage.

@JayneG , do you know when the change will go live?

Congratulations to all the hard workers of the project :).

Ohh, looks like it’s up! I’m going to have to poke around for a bit to see what’s changed.

I already have a question, does the redesign only affect pages in the “(Main)” namespace? Because I noticed that user pages and talk pages are using the older design.

@R2_d2000 that’s correct - although it’s a big update for the team, this phase probably isn’t much of a “thing” for us community folk because of the pages and tools we predominantly use! :)

Hey everybody! The new update is just FANTABULOUSLY FANTABULOUS! The coolest thing about this update is the sidebar. It allows for shorter screens! Fantabulous!

I like this new update, it looks clean and modern. I especially like the pictures for the warnings and tips sections, the new look for the category pictures, and I like the changes to Community Q&A. And I’m sure that more changes are on the way that will further improve the site!

It’s so great to have the positive feedback - we’re happy to hear you’re enjoying the updates! I like the clean and modern look too.

I think I am missing something. I can’t see any change on how wikiHow looks.:frowning:

@VY I think you need to go on the mobile site to see the difference.
