I’m excited to announce the launch of wikiHow in Hindi: http://hi.wikihow.com/ Big thanks and congratulations are due to @Gaurangprasad and @Iamsh , who took on the extensive process of translating the wikiHow interface to Hindi. Making our interface work in a new language is time-consuming and painstaking work, as literally hundreds of little pieces of text and html need to be translated, tweaked, and adapted to fit our design. And then there’s bug-testing and more testing. It’s a lot for volunteers to take on, and Gaurang and Kanhu (with some help from @Shrutiable ) did great, as you can see see from the finished results:slight_smile:As an added bonus, we already have a new contributor, @RoZeLovesPooja , who found Hindi wikiHow before its official unveiling and has already started writing articles. Taken together, and Hindi wikiHow looks terrific for a brand new wiki! Finally, big thanks to @Gersh and @Agent86 for setting up the wiki and working on bug fixes! Congrats and kudos to everyone for their great work. I’m really excited to have wikiHow available to millions of potential new readers in Hindi!

Good job, everybody who helped!

Awesome. Special congrats to RoZe from me as she’s someone I chat with quite a bit :D.

Great job guys! This is awesome!

I was going to say this was awesome, but I hate being redundant! This is totally fantastic!

Congrats guys!

Great job everyone!

To the people who have been working hard on bringing wikiHow to those who speak Hindi, your patience and commitment are remarkable. I’m sure it’s been difficult, (and believe me, translating is a tough, tough thing), and I wish I had half the drive that you guys have. Great job!

It gives me great pride to look at Hindi wikiHow today, much better and beautiful than how I saw it first on June 13th. It has been a beautiful experience for me working with talented editors like Kanhu, ShrUtiable, RozeLovesPooja, and the amazing wikiHow staff. This project is something that I’ll always cherish of. I thank each and everyone involved in this project, which has helped make it what it is today. Here are a few notes to specific people: @JackHerrick : You are truly amazing. If I had been in your place, I don’t think I would have trusted a 4-day-old wikiHow contributor with a project of this magnitude. But you did! That day when I had sent you the first mail, I never expected a reply from you. But, I was wrong. You sent me a reply, and took the initiative to kick-off this project. This clearly shows how much you love the wikiHow community. A big hug to you! @Chris Hadley: You are, indeed, the mastermind of this project. You played a very important role in everything, setting up the development version, helping us on various issues, encouraging us, fixing-bugs, answering questions (patiently), and so much more. Thanks for playing a fatherly role in this project. @IamSH (Kanhu): It wouldn’t be wrong to call you the backbone of the Hindi wikiHow. It was so valuable to have an experienced editor like you in the team. The tons of MediaWiki pages you translated, the various bugs you hunted, have just been outstanding. This project would not have been possible without you. @Reuben Smith: We haven’t interacted much with regard to this project (however, I have poked you many times for bugs and other issues!), but I know you’ve played a very important role in the back office. One thing I definitely know is, you set up the databases for Hindi wikiHow. Kudos:wink: @Bridget Connolly: We interacted in the last few weeks before the official announcement was made. I bet that you, as an ‘International Project Manager’, will do a great job in the wikiHaus and I wish you all the very best. Thanks for helping out with bug-fixing, bug-hunting and various other duties in the back-office. @Gersh and @Agent86 : The various bugs you have nailed is just splendid. Thanks for your awesome work in the back office:slight_smile:We have had ups and downs in this project; days when we recorded more than 100-edits-a-day, and we’ve had weeks in which not even single edit was made. Times when silly mistakes or typo errors on MediaWiki pages caused the whole interface to look weird; and some very small fixes (like removing an extra dot ( .) made the whole page much more beautiful! However, this is just the beginning now. Our aim now will be to build a community; a community that is willing to put in the extra effort to make Hindi wikiHow the largest how-to manual in Hindi. Hindi wikiHow, like any other wiki-project, is not yet perfect. We might have a few bugs, grammatical mistakes, and other issues. We are working towards fixing the grammatical mistakes while bugs are being taken care of by wikiHaus. I request you all to log in to Hindi wikiHow, play around, try doing a few things, and give us some feedback (it does not have to be good). Only when many people have a look at it and give us feedback will we know about out weakness. Gaurang Prasad

Good job!!!,keep it up!!
