Wow this seems like a really cool idea for a forum topic!
My schooling system in Australia is a bit different though
We don’t have the whole ‘summer break’ thing like in America, and we go to school for the majority of the year without a major break like you guys have.
It’s different, but I think I prefer it this way

Oh really? Wait since Australia’s in the Southern Hemisphere do you guys have “winter break” for a long break?
If you guys don’t then it must be pretty tiring for you guys! Having to study all year!
In the U.S., school starts in mid/late August and ends in early/mid June. There’s small breaks in between (Thanksgiving, winter, spring) and those are a couple of weeks long. Winter break is 2 weeks long, and Thanksgiving + spring break are one week long. So, the U.S. gets a ton of break!

Whoa that’d actually be nice
the longest break we get here is six weeks over Christmas and January, then there’s three two-week holidays spread throughout the year every ten weeks or so, these split the school year into terms (term 1, term 2 so forth)
Oh yeah and our school year starts early FebruaryIt’s mid term 3 now!
So no big winter break, and I hate the cold so if we did I’d probably just be stuck inside all day
But I guess the total time off is roughly the same as America

I live in Australia as well! I just came back from the 2nd holidays a few weeks ago.

Oh awesome! Yeah we’re only starting week 5 and I’ve just about had enough
Yeah same. At least it’s term 3 so we’re almost done with the year.In my school we have a new teacher called Mr Susman

Wait his name is literally “Mr. Susman”

I’m doing school completely online…so so so nice! I’m just frustrated this week that we’re learning NOTHING…hopefully next week we’ll start learning.

Wow, the first day back at school was exhausting! Everyone was talking in the hallways/lockers, and I couldn’t open my locker…
I saw a lot of my old friends/classmates from 2-6 years ago there
One bad thing was that during class (during discussion), a bunch of teenage “cool” boys always talked super loudly, and it sounded like a whole class was talking at once (but there were only 8-14 of them)

Good luck! Sounds exhausting…I’m completely online, but there are definitely some downsides. For those who aren’t tech savvy, we have a bunch of people trying to get into the program, and people hopping classes, and getting onto the wrong ones, etc.I have really great teachers this year … my math teacher is as usual a little scary but…isn’t that normal?

(Almost the first week- 4 days so not yet a week yet) The first days of school were fine, I guess. The noise in the hallways was something I eventually tolerated (since I knew most of the boys from earlier grade levels), but the noise in the class was not something I could tolerate…
Our school has a departure system for the students that are leaving at 3-3:30 (later is club time and study hall/extended care), and they call our names using walkie-talkies if they see the students’ caretakers (with name tags that say “(Student’s name) (Student’s last name initial) (Student’s Grade Level)”. But the problem is that when departure starts, the teachers just let everyone talk as loudly as they wish… Sure, the boys sometimes talk about cool stuff (like memes, Valorant which I found out was a PC shooter game, blending photos of US presidents with funny images in the elective graphics arts, and YouTube) which I enjoy hearing (even during class when it’s funny).
But I can barely
hear my name being called due to the bad walkie-talkies and the loudest classroom noise ever. The teacher doesn’t allow you to stand up if your name isn’t called, so I can’t stand next to the teacher holding the walkie-talkie. It’s annoying, and sometimes I am late to get picked up because of this.
One cool thing is that I finally got the courage to “ditch” my old, toxic friends (who ignored me and didn’t allow me to talk about stuff during lunch) from earlier grades! I sat next to a group of other girls during lunch, which was a plus
I also helped out a new girl (who was born in China and came to the US pretty recently) access school websites and do projects!

I’m glad to hear you’re making better friendships Iris, it’s always best to be friends with people who you actually want to be friends with, rather than for ‘status’ or ‘popularity’.
Noise is something that really gets to me as well sometimes, so I understand:)
