So about a few hours after I joined, I got a notification that I can’t do the patrol because I am using a “second account”. I had to switch computers with someone else at my school because of issues, could that be the problem? I had just looked up an article for school and came across wikihow and my only other account is from 2018.

Hiya, accounts aren’t linked to specific computers, so swapping computers won’t likely be an issue. Patrol blocks move over to subsequent accounts created because it’s a common issue for people to create new accounts to circumvent a block. If you’re interested in patrolling, you can reach out to me on jayne@wikihow.com and we can go from there.

I don’t have an email set up yet. I mean, I have one, I just can’t use it.

@JayneG But I don’t think it is fair that I am getting roped in for something I didn’t do. I don’t want to say it is discriminatory, or if your just assuming because I seem like a different user or my IP address is the same as someone who did something wrong that I AM them. Most people like that are (not always, but usually) trolls. I’m not an internet troll and I just genuinely want to help. There are millions of people who use wikiHow each day and I believe that they should be given accurate instructions. If I do somehow make mistakes just let me know instead of just roping me in with others. In general wikiHow has a bad reputation at my school and other places I go, because they think it is like Wikipedia. 4 years ago I had an account and never got any warnings or blocked at all. I stopped using it once my parents said I wasn’t allowed, but now that I am allowed by my parents, I can’t actually help? Please clear some of this up and explain. Thank you. ~Artsy

You’re welcome to help with any other available tools and activities! However, the only way to regain patrolling rights is to communicate through email - it’s not a complicated process, it’s just something we need to do to make sure it’s fair for everyone.

But it is not fair for everyone.
