Hey everyone! I was on wikiHow, and I got to thinking about how many recipes we have on here. I thought that, maybe, we could make a sub-website for recipes? Kind of like the forums- connected to wikiHow, but separate. It’s just an idea, so feel free to give your opinions.
Hmm. I’m not sure I see the point of this. Sure, there’s a lot of recipes on wikiHow but what’s the problem with having them on the main site? For a user anyway? I think wikiHow has explored the idea of creating offshoots of wikiHow with tech? @Anna
can tell how that went or if I’m wrong.
@InfernoTerra
I just had the idea because wikiHow has a lot of recipes, and it might be helpful for users if they were on a seperate site.

@Aslamsisjd
, thanks for sharing your idea! Just curious - what makes you think it would be more beneficial for readers if recipe-related articles were on a different site?
@Eric
Say someone was hosting a party, and they didn’t know what to make. They found wikiHow and discovered it has recipes. They tried to find a page with just recipes so that they could browse through (the category page), but since they had never used wikiHow before, they couldn’t find it. It would be helpful for them if they saw at the top of the page “Looking for recipes? Go to our recipe website!” or something like that. This is just an example, I think it wuld be helpful in a few other ways as well.
I see the allure but then again all they would have to do is hit explore>categories>food. It’s not like the categories is hidden or something only experienced users could find.
Or typing recipes in the search box will bring up the recipe category.
True, but for people who are just starting out with wikiHow, it might be simpler.
Wouldn’t having two separate sites make it more complex? People would end up switching between sites all the time.
Hmm, I don’t think that’s really necessary. Like @InfernoTerra
said, there’s the category for food recipes. Maybe there could be a little section at the front page on the side that gives readers the link to the category.
