We just found out that Discourse has a new feature that allows additional reactions for forum posts (because Discourse accidentally enabled it for all of their forums overnight!)

I’ll quote a screenshot that @Buterflie captured while it was enabled to give you an idea of what it would look like with additional options:

Let’s use this thread to decide as a community whether we should expand from only the heart reaction and add any of these additional options.

Please select any or all of the optionsthat you think would be beneficial to have available by clicking in the box next to the reaction below and clicking “Vote now!”, and of course, feel free to note any comments or feedback in a post.

Let’s review in a week and see if we need further time or discussion.

Seems like an interesting feature to keep. Though ive never seen this feature in action just yet.

Woah! I liked these! I do feel the laughing and open mouth are kind of jokey, but maybe we could still have fun with them in forum games occasionally? By the way, how does this voting take place? I haven’t voted like this before, so I actually enjoyed doing something:slight_smile:

You can simply vote in the original post by selecting those that you think we should add. Then we can review the voting in a week, take into account feedback and opinions and decide what to move forward with:slight_smile:

Since there isn’t a way to vote against adding new reactions, I’ll confess I don’t really want any of these… but honestly that’s because it feels kind of Facebook-y to me, and I have enough trouble dragging myself away from Discourse, with how much it feels like social media. lol

Oh I just realized it’s gone now :’) atleast I got to have a bit of fun with it XD I think this is a good idea, especially the hugs and confetti, and thumbs up.

Looking at the results here:

90% voted for adding Thumbs Up
81% voted for adding Confetti
72% voted for adding Hugs
68% voted for adding Clap
63% voted for adding Laughing
63% voted for adding Open mouth
9% preferred not to add any new reactions

So, let’s test adding Thumbs Up and Confetti for now and see how that goes. We can potentially expand to others down the line.
