I hope this is the right place to post this, as I have seen other posts like this about different topics, but if this is the wrong place then sorry!
I was wondering why we have articles about ADD. ADD is no longer a diagnosis, and has not been a diagnosis since 1987 according to my research. There also seems to be some misinformation surrounding ADD. For example, in the article How to Test for ADD (which is impossible considering the fact that ADD is not a diagnosis anymore) it states that “ADD is a subtype of ADHD, attention deficit hyper activity disorder” and it is sourced by the National Institute of Mental Health. The article sourced did not mention ADD anywhere and did not say ADD was a subtype of ADHD.
For some articles I can understand why the term ADD is used. For example, the article How to Support a Boyfriend Who Has ADD or ADHD makes sense because if your boyfriend was diagnosed with ADD before the diagnosis was removed he might say ADD because that was his diagnosis.
I understand that it is most likely to gain readership, as not everyone knows that ADD is no longer a diagnosis and might be looking for articles with the outdated term. I do think that it could be helpful to say in articles regarding ADD that it is an outdated term and has been replaced with ADHD.

Interesting point, @Agere_Baby ! I just did a quick look for articles with ADD and ADHD, but didn’t actually manage to find any other articles that are published that mention ADD other than How to Support a Boyfriend Who Has ADD or ADHD !

Could you (and anyone else) post a link to any that you may come across? Then we can see if it might be a good idea to create a project around updating the terminology:slight_smile:

Most are on wikihow.health, some examples are:
How to Support a Person You Suspect Has ADD or ADHD,How to Test for ADD, How to Be Organized with ADD/ADHDThere are more though
wont let me include links but if you search for them then you can find them

Ah, thanks for the help with them being on the health domain! I did find some articles, most of which we’ve updated to have custom titles for now and checked through the content to make sure ADHD was used.

One I’m not 100% sure on is 3 Ways to Find Out if You Have ADHD - wikiHow .Although the title is not an exact duplicate, the content seems to match 3 Ways to Find Out if You Have ADHD - wikiHow pretty well, so I am inclined to potentially redirect it to that one. What do you think?

That would make sense
