Been seeing a few newbie patrollers reverting Seymour Edits/WikiHow Projects, so thought about making a small tweak to the newpatroller coaching message:

Article edits: If they’re accurate and helpful additions, hit ‘‘Mark as Patrolled’’. If they’re vandalism or involve unnecessary inclusions of brand names or external links, hit ‘‘Rollback’’. If they are helpful but are not in wikiHow style or format, or the edit contains mistakes, do a ‘‘Quick Edit’’ to fix the change. Edits made by “Seymour Edits” or “WikiHow Projects” (accounts used by staff editors) are OK to mark as patrolled after doing a quick review for any typos or spelling mistakes.

Figured I’d get a few thoughts from y’all before pushing the edit:smirk:

This seems like a good idea. I used to revert edits by these accounts a lot because I didn’t know they were from wiki staff, lol.

Seems like a good idea to me! Most of the new patrollers are simply rolling back edits from those accounts out of confusion.

I support the proposed change, although I’d like to see it added to newpatroller2 as well.:sunglasses:

Support, but maybe the staff usernames could be “Seymour Staff Edits” and “WikiHow Staff Projects” to avoid confusion.

What a wonderful idea. You are right on track with this one, Matt. It would also help, however it might be confusing, to include Bridget, Sean, Kyle, Reuben, Jean (I am sorry if I got the spelling wrong), Dr. Carrie, Allyson, Caitlynn, Chris, Jayne, Category Guardian, Stub bot, and more staff editors who edit articles to weave links, incorporate expert comments, staff updating their profiles or profiles of experts in articles, in short, all edits by individual staff members. It is sounding tough as I type and think about it.

It is a very helpful edit you have come up with. Well done.:slightly_smiling_face:

Wholeheartedly support. I have no clue how many times I’ve told new patrollers that “Seymour Edits/WikiHow Projects is a wikiHow staff account, so it’s typically okay to patrol their edits :)”.

Yes, this is a great idea!

I support this, and agree with @Eric about adding it to newpatroller2 as well!

Done and done ! Thanks for the support guys. I used Seymour Edits and WikiHow Projects as the usernames because that’s just how they appear on site. Good ideas, Aasim and VY - but best to keep it simple:wink:Cheers everyone!

I like it. I see users often revert edits by a Seymour or other staff account.

This was resolved a while ago and the changes have already been made, so I’ll close this thread.
