I was just buzzing through all the pages when I came across the awards pages. Do we still do contests? Most of them are inactive and the only one that I looked at that wasn’t from 2008 was from 2011. If it is inactive would it be bad to get it started back up? What was you guys’ thought on it when it was active(presuming it’s not, like it appears, now)? Its a little n00bish of a question but I noticed I still have alot to explore. Also, looks like only one user added stuff to the ‘main’ page anyway. Huh I think I’m missing something. http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Central-Contest-Page

Oh dear, it triple posted. It had been acting funny…I’ll try to delete it but if anyone more experienced with the forums could do it, much appreciated.
I think it’d be a good idea…Like, for quality rallies. The copyedit contest would be fun, and it’d raise quality. (= I’m all for starting this up…Just to see how it goes. I could help if anyone needed it, too. (= Also, only admins can close threads…But someone will soon. (; June Days

Lol Thanks, my computer has been known to double or even triple post on Facebook but never on here. How weird. Yeah, I don’t know how we’d start it back up; Maybe by cleaning up the pages and getting rid of some, like redo the participant list with active users only…Have you guys ever done something like this before? I suppose there’d need to be a set of judges for each contest or something…Yeah, it would take work but we could do this. Huh, I’ll edit the pages and make 'em more easy to understand for now but this could be cool if we could pull it off. Then again, it’s just an idea now.
Since wikiHow is a volunteer wiki-website, anyone can start or re-start any contest (as long as the contest complies with our policies). I would suggest following the steps given below before re-starting an old contest: 1) Form a team of contributors who are willing to organize the contest. Ideally, a team of 3 or more contributors will be good. 2) Decide how you want to run the contest. Is the contest about doing more
number of edits (or so) or is it about quality
. If it involves just numbers, you might not need judge(s); because the organizers can declare the winners themselves. If the contest involves quality-based edits, which need judging, form a team of judges (personally, I would suggest the organizers themselves being the judges) 3) Let the community know about the new contest. Post in on the forums, invite users ,via talk page messages, to participate (making sure you don’t spam a lot). 4) Have fun! Yes, this is the most important part
If you need help organizing or judging anything, I can help you. Let me know. Gaurang Prasad

Thanks
I’m going to work on getting it started up and recruiting a team. I think maybe we’ll have to do some quality judging instead of numbers if we bring back certain contests for example the photography contests…I don’t think I want to bring those back yet, though because not enough people may be willing to enter… I’ll start updating pages, getting a team together, e.t.c. It might fail but I think it’s worth a try. Oh, and there’s an awards member page that mostly has old members who are inactive. Would it be bad if I were to weed out those who haven’t been active for about a year? The wiki~awards team is pretty extensive and I think the team should be a little bit smaller since more people are going to want to join if this works… Thanks again

Oh, cool
I’ll clean out the old users and get started tomorrow, I’ll keep this thread updated for you guys until we get everyone together Thanks!
I’d love to help out with this, if you need any help. Just leave me a message on my Talk Page if you need me. And, is it okay if I add my name to the list? (= June Days

Oh, sure, anyone can add their name and I’d love your help
I think this weekend I’ll send out things for our first contest http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Bestarticlecontest
The only trouble is that this whole contest looks a little funny in the sense that it’s not too well written. I think I’ll add a ‘Past Winners’ section after we do our first one. I’m making a new thread in General Chat to see how people would prefer the voting to work and also if anyone wants to help, etc cause this thread doesn’t look too official… Well if I want to start this weekend I need to hurry x) As you can see, I’m not writing too professionally right now-I’m crazy tired but I think that if I do a contest a month or something this’ll work great. I might update the banners, too. Some contests don’t have titles. Well, that was a lot for a small question but thanks lol
I just added my name to the Awards team page.
