I’m a feminist and pro-BLM at heart and spend hours at a time scrolling through social media looking at posts both for and against those matters - this topic is for those who relate! Here you can post today’s social standards that don’t seem fair to you
Rules:
- You can have your own opinions, but pushing your ideas on others is NOT
ok. Neither is shooting down other people’s views.*
- Feel free to discuss why you think what you think*
- No swears, slurs, etc.
- Unless it’s part of a standard, don’t discuss religion (This means no saying things such as “The bible says…” That argument won’t hold up against someone who doesn’t believe the bible)
- (Let me know if you can think of additional rules)
*Example;
Do: “I get what you’re saying but…”, “That makes sense, but I believe…”
Don’t: “That’s stupid”, “Uhhhh, what are you talking about?!?! That’s soo dumb”

It doesn’t make sense to me that women have to wear bras while men can walk around shirtless

It doesn’t seem fair that 1 in 10 people don’t get clean water.
@MaddieIsGone
, I know what you mean. I used to walk around shirtless when I was 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 years old (once in public - just shirtless), but the moment I turned 10, no more running around shirtless.

^^Yeah, what we wear should be our decision! Breasts aren’t made to be sexual, they’re just a biological body part we have.
^Oh yeah, and the water thing is pretty sad. Water should be a free resource; unfortunately, many people still don’t have access to the thing necessary for survival: water!

This is kind of a personal one, but it’s not fair that people use “gay” as an insult or a joke. Even as I’ve switched to a new school a year ago (private to public), people are still using that word inappropriately and they laugh.

^I don’t mean anything against anyone and I hope I don’t offend anyone, but personally, I think that gay is wrong. (But that’s only my opinion).

My parents have this sort of opinion. I don’t know what to believe.

Yeah, I can understand why you think that. Everyone has their own opinion!
You don’t have to say “I hope I don’t offend anyone” because all of us will probably offend people at one point by saying what we think. It’s impossible to please everyone!
Unless you’re personally insulting people or cursing, it’s okay to state your opinion openly.

Oh yeah, I’ve also heard of this therian
community online, and I really don’t get it. I don’t know if it’s just a TikTok trend. I’m just wondering how someone can identify and feel like an animal when they are physically a human. I feel like this is some sort of psuedoscience, since there isn’t any evidence to support that people can “shift” or feel any strong energies to suggest they were an animal in their past life. Plus, you can do so much more if you’re a human.

My ex-bff was a therian, so if you’d like, I can try to ‘explain’ it to you a little better (not, per se, better than the article but it might help to hear from someone with secondhand experience) (it’s not just a trend). I didn’t, and really still don’t, understand the why but I do understand the how pretty well

I get that - they haven’t told me directly but I’m pretty sure my parents are tooWhich I’m bi so the situation sucks lol
Don’t put pressure on yourself to decide or anything, it’s just fine to go even your whole life not knowing what your opinion is!

I think that people should know their opinion and choose their side instead of staying neutral their whole lives.

Thanks! I would like to know the “how” lmao. I’m curious; maybe I was wrong on some assumptions.
That makes sense, and I realize it can be relieving to know what you think/where you stand but at the same time it’s not a problem to be neutral in my opinion. I can’t really think of any problems with being neutral on this specific topic - but by all means if you can I’d appreciate hearing them

Well, I just think its not good to not know what you should think or believe, I also think that if you were going to pick, that you should pick what you know
is right, but how would you know what’s right if you choose to be neutral?

I appreciate your explanations!
I dislike clothing (especially pants) made for females. I mean, the vast majority of girls in my school wear feminine clothing, so it doesn’t bother them much (some are more androgynous or tomboyish, but that’s a minority).
The shorts are always made super short. Most of the gym shorts are up to the tops of your thighs or higher, and the only parts covered are your hips. I don’t enjoy showing that much skin- plus, I don’t want to get sunburned when in the boiling heat during summertime. Also, there are tons of mosquitos in tropical countries like Taiwan, making short shorts a bad choice. So, I usually wear athletic shorts for males that go to mid-thigh or lower.
Tops aren’t a big problem. Females wear all sorts of tops, and I haven’t had a huge problem with them. It’s just that the majority of girls in my school wear these spaghetti-strap tank tops paired with jean shorts. I don’t mind that, but differing fashion styles make it more difficult to make friends. It’s more difficult to bond with other people (like to go clothes shopping with your friends to socialize).

How can people be so heartless to leave animals on the road after they don’t seem like rainbows and cupcakes? Animals aren’t toys, which you can collect and discard, they’re living beings!!! >:( My friend found a puppy (3 months old) in a cardboard box on the side of the road! I mean, seriously people, I think it’s time you pulled your socks up! (That’s an expression my teacher uses)

^+1 what I’ve seen volunteering in animal rescue really is appalling. If there’s an owner involved, many are not beyond making threats to get us to take the animal. Often feels like there will never be enough capacity at the centre or emergency foster programs to deal with the sheer number of calls coming in. I understand many situations in which people have to give their pets up but a lot of what I see is, unfortunately, pure neglect.

When my family and I lived down in southern texas, we took in over five different dogs and puppies, and over five different cats and kittens! It was a really
really
bad area, we saw dozens of cats and dogs, kittens and puppies
dumped on the sides of the road. It was terrible! So many of them got hit by cars too!
