I am all about getting views (my articles read), but when an article I wrote last night about a lesser known software gets over 300 views in less than a day, I have to question it. Instead of having Eric or someone else check it, is there a way that I can check where the readers are and if the count is accurate? The article in question is http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Zoner-Photo-Studio-Manager
Thanks.

I am showing the following for that article: * 13 Pageviews * 6 Unique Views * 00:05:36 Avg Time on Page It’s also showing 40% of the views came from people clicking a link on the Main Page (featured because it was a rising star). Keep in mind these stats are not always 100% accurate, but it appears we had a glitch with the internal counter on your article. Unfortunately, I don’t think the article did in fact receive 300 views in one day.

Eric - How’d you get these stats?

Okay… I am showing 490 pageviews, apparently 52 minutes after Krystle’s post, or 22 hours after Eric’s…but I posted a vague article this morning, and only moments after it posted, it already showed 20 views, which is not likely. One more thing, when checking userpages after an edit that got me curious, I see userpage visits of 1000 or more even though they just created an account very recently…?

Exactly…why is this happening?
A bug in the system perhaps?

I’m pretty sure my userpage is buggy… recently there have been a ridiculous number of views O_O

Yep - I think there’s a bug. I just created this article as a test: http://www.wikihow.com/Test-Article-Possible-Views-Bug
Let’s see how the views rack up…

Pft, well I gave it one legitimate view =P

Weird. It only has 34 views so far. I wonder why only some articles are exhibiting this issue. Please keep reporting titles that have an unusually high # of views!

This one is 12 hours old and has 344 views. It could be the subject matter…or not. Could someone let me know? http://www.wikihow.com/Learn-to-Say-No

Krystle, here’s another for your bug report. Teresa, unfortunately, as you guessed, this article hasn’t received 344 views.

I am curious. Did the articles with the inflated numbers get tweeted or ‘liked’??

I checked a few “inflated” pages on my list but they didn’t get tweeted or liked. That’s a really good idea though. Looking for patterns like that can help get this kind of thing figured out. Another possibility I looked at was that it was happening only to rising stars, but that’s not the case. Example of high views but no tweets/likes: How to Make French Fries Using a Deep Fryer: 15 Steps
