I think we need a template to warn/notify talk page spammers not to spam (usually links and emails for products/services) on the talk pages of other users. {{Talkspam}} seems to be the simplest and most precise title for the template.

What do you think?

I prefer {{blocked}}.

That template is used to notify a user that they have been blocked. We should give chances as one time, I asked a talk page spammer to stop and they apologized. The {{talkspam}} template would make sending messages much faster.

Blocking users who spam on talk pages (possibly unaware of the policies at first) should be done when they persist after being warned. Who knows if they might become a good contributor one day.

That’s why we have a {{warning}} template

Agreed.

@ Batreeq   The wikiHow Terms that every one agrees to when they create an account  makes it very clear in particular section D that states ‘’‘You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities: (i) transmitting spam’‘’.

We already have emailspam, exlinks, warning, and blocked. More than enough if you ask me:slight_smile:

I actually agree with the above. With all the templates we have for different features, “talkspam” would be rather overkill. And besides, with the Terms and Conditions that everyone must abide by, that really seems kind of “stretching the template idea” for those who could use a personal message instead.

I agree with you! Yesterday I met a spammer from Russia, who added links to our articles in Russian.  I used 2 exlinks template, one warning anand added some words in Russian if he does not speak English quite well and it was enough. P.S Hello, everyone.

@ Missm90    The way to deal with those drive by spammers is to report under ‘blacklist’ on the ANB  https://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Administrator-Notice-Board to get the sites blacklisted as those types of Russian spammers are usually bots and will not respond to warning messages.

Russian spammers? How do you find?

Usually the IP is anonymous and if you do a reverse IP search you go to a Russian location + the websites being spammed have the Russian .ru on the end of it.
