I have already started this, but because of macOS Catalina, articles that involve iTunes and a device need updates to be accurate.  Finder has become the new one-stop place for managing your iDevice on macOS Catalina but iTunes should not be entirely removed because Windows and older versions of macOS still use iTunes.

Thanks for noting this, @Awesome-Aasim . This is a good project for anyone who knows apple devices and computers!

I already started tagging articles needing update using AWB.  This is a tedious task so I think this is a good use of the tool!

How often is the techupdate category actually used? I don’t want to sound discouraging, but I don’t recall the template gaining that much traction and it might not be that helpful to mass-tag the articles if people don’t actually use the category that much.

Like I was telling @Awesome-Aasim who added a “techupdate” template to an article I started and am watching “like a hawk”. Although Mac is going through some changes removing major features needed for the product to work, Apple still gives Windows users their own version of iTunes that is still routinely updated (my last one updated about 3 weeks ago, following the update to iOS 13.2! So, while it may not be useful for Mac at this time, Apple is learning that there’s other competition out there too.

Even older versions of macOS still have iTunes - I’m still on macOS Sierra and they haven’t removed iTunes. They might stop updating it, but it’s still on the computer. Regardless of what the article updates involve, we should avoid a blanket removal of iTunes content for Mac, since some users are on older versions of the OS.

I am notsaying remove the old methods, I am saying for the techupdate add the new methods for macOS Catalina.  I use Windows so I cannot exactly test everything per se, but I can test what I can with Windows and iPhone.

In the process, I have found lots of articles related to iTunes that, while they met wikiHow standards when they were first created, no longer meet those standards today.  Please feel free to review my edits a second time.  If you know how to use AWB, you can configure it so that you can review the category again to see if I missed something.  Some of the updates require title changes (such as adding Music, Movies, TV, or Finder to the title or generalizing the title).  Others just require the adding of macOS Catalina methods.  I am finishing up reviewing the last 100 pages or so in the category (alphabetically), so hopefully, after that, we can let the updating begin!

If you are RC patrolling and happen to stumble across my edits, please review them as I am not perfect and may make mistakes from time to time.  I tried my best to identify these articles, but everybody makes mistakes.  Also, feel free to update these articles when you get the time to do so (something I do not have much of because of school).

I have also skipped articles that have any stub or quality review tags on them.

Remember this:

Done reviewing each article!  Now, take a look at the list of articles I tagged with techupdate.  This is a pretty large list, but I think it is a little necessary to do this cleanup.
