The {{technical}}
template shows the following on articles that it’s added to: Notice added on {{{date}}}. It does not insert the actual date ( example
).

Thanks - I looked into this one and it doesn’t look like it’s in much use, and I don’t recall a discussion about the template at the time of its creation (if anyone else does, though, feel free to say so!).
If I recall correctly, I think there is a limit to the number of templates we want to include in the system that adds dates automatically - some kind of engineering concerns if there are too many. So since this template is only on two articles and may not have community consensus behind it, my hunch is we should just go ahead and remove it for now.
I think that for most tech topics along these lines, {{attention}}, {{accuracy}} or {{techupdate}} could probably get the job done equally well, especially when paired with a discussion page comment, if there are concerns about accuracy. We don’t really want to just template articles if there are no concerns, anyway, just because a topic is technical… that alone doesn’t really merit any kind of template, probably?
If there turns out to be a specific need for something more targeted like this, though, we can always bring it up again as a broader community discussion, rather than a bug report.
