Hi, I was wondering if we were aloud to make our own templates? It would be great to have custom templates we could use in different situations, such as a bad contribution, or welcoming a user with a custom message. It’s easy enough to create them, I was just wondering if there were any rules against this. Thanks!

You can make your own templates, but (as far as I know) typically if it will be used for any purpose other than something like a personal holiday greeting/“nice work” message, a community consensus on the template would be necessary. This is because sending personalized non-template messages appears to be more effective communication then an automated-looking template.

You are free to create templates under your namespace. Read this article : http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Personalized-wikiHow-Template If you wish to create one that can be used by the community as a whole, you must first ask the community’s opinion by creating a thread in the forums. We already have and need good templates. Also, every user is allowed to make a template as far as the user knows HOW to make it. You can the read the articles: For a fun, user page template: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Personalized-wikiHow-Template For other templates: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-wikiHow-Template And for no community approval, make it under your user namespace.
