@JayneG
I’ve done questions from both the (1) AnswerQuestions Tool, and (2) the Article page. I’d like to give some feedback here.
I used the (1) Tool exclusively since I learned of it. I cut my teeth there for marking questions. I also answered questions through the Tool.
Then, I realized I could go through questions from the page. I’d occasionally go there to mark questions.
I also reported on the Forum that I was often being shown the same questions in (1) the tool. That was very frustrating!
One day, I decided it was quicker to be on the (2) Answer page and (a) judge qs (b) mark duplicates and (c.) offer comments when answered qs were on the wrong article, were incorrect, were incomplete for important points, or should be reviewed for some other problem.
In doing questions from the (2) Answer pages, I realized that I was NOT being presented with “same questions” in the (1) Tool that I already marked (as I first thought). Instead, the system is holding duplicates, triplicates, and sometimes, entries of 4 of the ‘exact’ questions which are fed in groups to the (1) Tool. From the (2) Answer pages, it was much easier to see those problems and mark them because of the Show More link at the bottom of q lists.
Overall, my strengths lie in detail work, like recognizing “exact” and “alike” entries (and misspellings in the editing tool). The matching skill comes from my early work in a city library system, from my supervisory work for years when I led teams of volunteer ‘fixers’ for misspellings etc. on a similar site, and even from simple “match” games as a kid. I don’t prefer answering qs, mainly because I have shoulder injuries that makes it hurt my arm terribly to type. But I will answer on health and mental health Qs, primarily, and elsewhere if I know the subjects.
I found the (2) Answer pages a virtual ‘heaven’ for my skillsets. I thought I was doing a big service for the site with marking the dupe and triplet qs since that would reduce not only the unanswered question total, but also eventually reduce the burden on (1) the Tool.
The prospect of only having (1) the Tool is frustrating and a very limiting use of my time. I hope the Techs quickly fix the “Answer” and “Flag” text links on the full (2) Answer pages so I can get back to work. Please convey this to the Techs.
