Folks may remember from a few months ago that we were working on a redesign for desktop. We showed a bunch of mockups here at the Village Pump and, sadly they got a pretty lukewarm reception. And it wasn’t just hard core wikiHowians who didn’t like the redesign. The readers we tested it on also gave us a “meh” kind of response. So we went back to the drawing board. This time instead of designing for the desktop experience first , we designed for mobile and tablet first. I showed the early versions of this design to a few folks at the London meetup and it got much more enthusiastic reviews than the first redesign. So for the past few months, wikiHaus engineers Scott and Reuben and our designers have been working on refining the mobile design. I’m happy to say we can open it for testing now! You may get a warning saying this site isn’t secure. Go ahead and ignore that warning. 2. The links to full site or editing mode don’t work yet. 3. This will currently only work on phone or ipod sized devices. We haven’t yet prepped it for tablets. 4. Clicking a search link will probably take you off the test site. Checked a step - “Congraulations. Can’t wait for you to check another! :)” The error is fairly obvious and the first bug I’ve found :x
It looks great on my Samsung Galaxy Y (3" screen). To nitpick, the large image on the main page doesn’t seem to have an explicit height set, because the text jumps down when the large image starts to load, which isn’t great if you are on a slow (mobile!) connection. Also, is there a reason tips and things you’ll need aren’t expanded by default? Otherwise, awesome. I love it.
The intro image of the first FA is huge! Please consider reducing the size. I am using an Acer Iconia A500 Android tablet (ICS). Also, would it be possible to show ads which are related to the to article. Currently, it shows me ads way off-topic. The site is too slow. Took me two refreshes to just load the page.

the image is too big because you are on a tablet. At this point the design is only ready for phone sized screens.

What the? When I click How to Sing on the lobo mobile site, it says at the top “Hello Champ! I’m the Fucking RC Patrol Coach ready to waste your time by putting fake edits when you could actually be helping WikiHow, you RC Patroller.” It doesn’t say that on the actual wikiHow site.

Have yet to try it on my iPod touch, but I looked at this mobile site on my Internet Explorer browser, and seems to notice it doesn’t have any major differences. So, sort-of support this new version.

that was an edit that was reverted 57 minutes ago. I’m guessing either there’s a delay with edits showing up on the mobile site, or it’s just a matter of clearing your cache.
