I think it would be great if we could integrate the “thumbs up” feature into the forums. If a user posts something helpful or very relevant to the topic, they’d get a thumbs up. This way people can get a “pat on the back” for all the hard work they do on the forums, while giving others valuable information towards the problem or suggestion etc.

I agree - that sounds great.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Ditto to the above!

There’s a way to sink posts on Vanilla. I’ve seen the button. Don’t know if it’s an admin only thing, or if Vanilla has an upvoting equivalent.

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

Yes, admin-only, as far as I know. This is a good idea, by the way. I wonder if it is possible?

Not just relevant posts. They need to be relavent posts on wikiHow topics (no games).

@elocina “Sink” is admin only; it prevents a thread from being bumped no matter how many times people respond to it. Generally though it is better to just close the thread. If you do sink a thread, it’s good to explain why. That aside…The opposite of “sink” is “announce”. So that probably wouldn’t fit this purpose because you can only do that for a whole thread:slight_smile:As for giving thumbs up for individual posts, I can understand the idea, since the Facebook “like” button has become so integrated into Internet life these days! But it might not be something worth investing engineer time into, much in the same way “adding friends” is something that has never been pursued. The “thumbs up” feature is for recognizing quality edits; in the forums it would more likely be used for when you agree with someone’s opinion, which is more of a social networking application. That being said, if you like someone’s post, you can always let them know the old-fashioned way - just leave them a note saying “Hey, I thought you made a really good point in the forums.” Ya know?

I like it. It could be just like the upvote system on Reddit.

If it’s just an indication that someone thought your post was nice, then why does it matter if someone decides to thumbs-up a post in a game thread? I don’t see the harm in the feature even if it’s misused.
