I noticed when editing some posts that there was a discrepancy of minus 30 minutes between my actual timezone (and the timezone I set on the site in preferences) vs the timezone that the forum believes I am.
Because of DST, my timezone switches from NST to NDT (-3:30 GMT to -2:30 GMT). The half hour discrepancy is the AST/ADT timezones (-4:00 GMT, -3:00 GMT). I was surprised to find that I couldn’t set my timezone on the forums, and assumed the forums used the timezone set via Special:Preferences; but I believe this time it’s using the closest one to my timezone.
I recorded a screencast of this discrepancy, which mainly just involves triggering an edit time update on a forum post and then proceeding to show the local time and the timezone setting in my preferences.

Noted! We may have a better chance of getting Newfoundland to change its time zones, over changing anything with time settings in Vanilla, hah - but I appreciate that you wanted to let us know the details!
